the eagles fan-site, i'm in the process of designing and the big footy ca site i did writing the code manually in notepad.

This is the most efficient way of doing it as you have more control over what going on, on your web page.

But it is quite time consuming to know learn the code and to know how to use it - but once you do, it's more efficent than any web-design tool going around.

A good place to learn is www.pageresource.com - this were i taught myself from.

Took my about a month to pickup the basics and from there it becomes a lot easier.

Vis i would also recommend Homestead. You can download their program for free and work on it offline etc.

Its dead easy and they give you everything, its just drag and drop all the elements you want, and they have heaps!

Well for the people who have designed webpages, did you use a program or was it all just typing html language and perfecting it?

Vis

Well For Collingwood Forever (http://collingwood.rivals.net) i used frontpage coz it lets u type html in and it works like word and works!

I'm a computer programmer by profession. I do exactly as WCE2000 suggests and write it all out by hand.

I use notepad and just type out the code. I'm not a computer programmer by profession, but I am a shoddy one in my spare time ... so it comes a bit easier to me.

there is so much language to remember though...surely there is a book or something which has a list of every command possible?

Vis,

Check out http://www.htmlhelp.com

I just took up an E-Commerce subject at Uni, spent a fortune on books, but all i needed was pretty much all on the web anyway.

Theres a couple of other sites out there to help ya out. I've heard Dreamweaver is good for editing and you can get it from downloads.com and use it for about a month.

There are a lot of different resources to make your site. For the new site I am designing I have used many different free resource sites so I will list a few below. Not sure exactly what you are looking for but here are some of the things you may need for it.

Free Homepage (Most Important)
Either of the following:
http://www.50megs.com
http://www.geocities.com
http://www.homestead.com
http://www.tripod.com
http://www.stas.com

All of those are good, whichever you want is a good choice I suppose.

Okay, well I'm just a teenager with a personal webpage/ diary, but I started off with a program about a year and a half ago. I used that for a while, but realised I couldn't do certain things that I wanted, so I started learning html from a book, and once I got the hang of it, it's made it so much easier.

As for hosts, I started with geocities which were good, had lots of room and were easy to use. The popups got annoying though. I moved to redrival.com who offered 20mb with no ads, but they have ads now which are really annoying, so they're not so good. And now I'm with http://virtue.nu who offer only 5mb, but no ads, and I haven't had any problems yet

Agells is it seriously only 5mb :(

DAMN I got all hyped up for a sec.

Vis the best thing to do is upload it to your ISP, but as you get more advanced, your ISP sucks coz they dont support many stuff!

To make it im using some program called coffeecup and also paintshop pro, Bit of ulead cool 3d as well :D

Vis

Ok question for QT here, on your website you've managed to link to the scores and commentaries and still kept your frame there. I cant manage to do that. How do u do it, what command is it?

Vis

Visro i tried to do it manually for like 3 months and couldnt get it done, now that i have frontpage it does it by itself. Theres alot of tutorials to help make frames and stuff. goto http://www.pageresource.com/html/frame1.htm
They give you the introduction to how to starting to use frames.

If ya want i could make you a frame, and then give you the HTML code for it.
