Righto well it's that time again.

This week Pavlich looms as the biggest threat to our boys.

Who'll get him when he's forward and will we tag him when/if he's on the ball ?

When he is forward I'll tip Bower to pick him up, with the possibility of Jamo if he plays as a true full-forward.

In the guts I'll say both Judd and Gibbs at different times in the match.

I'm gonna hedge me betts with a few people:
If he's forward I would say Bower on the basis Jamo's shoulders are stuffed or Aussie.
If he's in the midfield either Hadley or the usual suspect Russell.
If he goes to Judd they'll just run off each other.

He'll go up and down the ground.

I expect Waite to run with him and make him accountable when he's on ball and Bower to double team him with either Waite or Thornton when he's up forward.

Also expect him to go H2H with Juddy for a while but hopefully can get free and burn him.

Freo have been playing better and some mismatches will be hard to cover. As long as we do not take it as a holiday we should win by 10 goals.
The key is to try to choke up Pav in the middle and not give him easy targets in the fwd 50. If he gets the ball in the centre and starts running at goals players must be brave and meet him head on. Carlos for a shirt front/ closeline

To tag him on the ball, well I would chose Waite as he's got the physical attributes to go with him and the ability and athleticism to actually hurt Freo in the midfield but Gibbs might get that job. When he's forward you would think Jamison but he looks to have problems so perhaps Bower...

Who cars about Pav, once Harvey lines Tarrant on Fev its game over, but to tell you the truth i hope they put Tarrant on Judd in the same fashion they put Tarrant on Goodes :D

In the past its been Farmer, Pav and Peake who have played well against us, but they are in a different situation now, they need Pav on the ball which restricts them up forward so hopefully McPharlin plays forward as that would mean somebody else to Fev which should work in our favour.

Game to be won out of the middle and our middle is a juicy as hot apple pie!!

IIRC Thornton has played on Pav in the past and done pretty well, esp when Pav plays around CHF.

So it depends a lot on where he plays:

FF - Bower
CHF - Thornton
Midfield - Waite

I think they will want to use Waite zoning off as much as they can, and use Thornton, Bower and Jammo as the first line of "man up" options.

Austin should start up forward and put some pressure on Cloke as the second forward/CHF.

Bower may go with him when he plays true forward. Pav might be a bit of a pain one-on-one up there though. :o Not sure if Ratts will use a hard tag when he plays on ball. Depends whether Pav plays wide or in the guts.

Hopefully Yazz plays a blinder :D Good on him:thumbsu:

Carlos isn't playing is he?

Every time Carlos goes for a tackle is round the head anyway, i'm not sure he knows the difference between head and hips.

as everyone said it depends where he plays.

i would tag him tightly in the midfield, maybe a russell?
and when he pushes forward, Waite will man-up. When he goes back into the midfield Waite becomes a loose defender again and Russell? resumes his tag.

not sure who they will put on him in the midfield.

This thread has got more thatn a smearing of deja vu about it. I remember reading about how Carlton where going to pummell us into submission in Bunbury. The only real difference with this week is the away coach isn't bleating about the extra travel.
PS- Hope Warnock gets a chance to see pick #24 (Suban I think it is:D) go around.

The pre-season holiday game on a hard surface in the heat that was a PR exercise for the wablues? Hardly the same. But certainly set you up for losing your first 2 games whereas we won them. But you be content with winning a nothing game. Hence the empty trophy cabinet.
I will bookmark the thread and remind you over it tomorrow night

ps hope to see you rnd 14 at Subiaco!

Bower to towel up PAV.
Having said that, this game bothers me.
Freo down and out depsite the last two weeks
can throw caution..
We must put it to bed and start running with the front
of the pack to sure up a top 8 spot.
Season starts here in my opinion.

Yarran to kick 5

"You Know We've Got Thick Skin At Freo"

In all seriousness there is a fair bit more caution on your board this time around which is strange as we've got more injuries than Royal Perth Hospital atm.
We are long outsiders at the bookies suggest. We're currently at $4 and I'd take that on but realistically I just hope our young guys have a solid 4 quarter dip.
Your midfield should tear us apart without Palmer, Headland and Crowley. We're thin on the ground at the best of times in the middle but this week we're see through.
Carlton by 25 in an open shootout.:(
