I still think Rivers is extremely contrived in his songwriting. He has been since Green and the results have been laboured and transparent. He locked himself in a cupboard and read pop theory and every song sounded exactly the same, in some quest for The Perfect Pop Song. Make Believe was so corny and Disneygay as Rivers said himself. Just awful. Red was more experimental, a suck it and see, and it just had poor attempts as opposed to just bad templates. Raditude and Hurley tried to create this cross-over and now Everything is this "look guys, look how rock and authentic we are again!" It just seems a little empty and obvious.

Why can't he just relax? That's how their best songs of the 21st century came out.

Because every time they make a new album there is anticipation of another Pinkerton/Blue, even I subconsciously hope every time a new Weezer record is announced that it will be amazing

New album is a lot of fun been on repeat all day really enjoy it. Weezer is a band that you take how it is. Always loved them the last 2 sucked but this one is a winner. Do do do

Is anyone here into the Rentals?

I maintain Return of the Rentals is better than any 21st century Weezer album, and the second album isn't too much worse than Green, Maladroit, the good half of Red.

Damon Albarn sang on this semi-reference to Friends Of P.

Yeah the Rentals are pretty good. Their stuff is better than Hurley or Raditude, but so is everything.

I'd still have Maladroit, the first half of Red and EWBAITE ahead of anything the Rentals have ever done by a fair way. Their best stuff is probably on par with Green IMO.
