Weird Habits

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Some people have unique habits or methods of doing things & thought it might be fun to explore.

Me personally, I am always the subject of derision by my friends for my method of eating, I am very slow & deliberate about how I eat.

For instance, I always eat the outside (crust) of a sandwich or roll first then eat the rest. I also, when eating a meal always eat what I like least first to get it out of the way so I can enjoy the best part of the meal. Usually I have to finish the meal with the last mouthful consisting of a small bit of each of the things left that I like.

Now before you say anything I'm not OCD, maybe just a little quirky.

Do you have any weird habits that people think is funny or quirky about you?

i always think out aloud.

and it's not just "ahhh **** i can't believe i said that last night"

i'll be reading a newspaper article and say aloud whether i agree or not...

I like it!

Thats a ripper, I hope for your sake you don't have strong views on touchy subjects.

I've probably got a bunch, but heaps of people comment on the way I eat my pies.

First I nibble all around the edge of the pie so that the lid is detached from the rest. Then I eat the lid. Then I eat all the filling. And then the remaining pastry.

And people think it's crazy that I eat pies without tomato sauce. I hate the stuff.

Now I'm starting to worry, I do that too!

whilst i'm not peculiar with eating, i did used to eat my pies that exact same way. not anymore though.

but i still don't use tomato sauce. i hate it. bbq sauce all the way. unfrotunately in the uk and ireland bbq sauce is different to home and not as nice, and not always available.

Thats funny. I have the same eating habits as you :thumbsu:

Me three.

I also arrange objects around the dinner table to sit symmetrically. For example, I'll line up the cutlery (only my cutlery) so that the handles are all lined up perfectly (i.e. not one higher and another lower). If the plate is square, I'll make sure its 100% parallel to the edge of the table.

Not OCD though. If I don't do it I won't freak out. Its fidgeting I suppose.

Also, I count almost obsessively. I'll count the windows on a building as I drive past it, or I'll count the birds in a flock as they fly by.
I also count syllables contained in individual sentences while i'm reading a book, newspaper, or even bigfooty. I do it WHILE i'm reading, so the counting doesn't detract from the reading.
Once again, its not OCD. I don't freak out if I can't finish counting, or act strangely while i'm doing it (stop in the middle of the road to finish counting windows). Its just something I do.

I wonder if I should talk to a psychologist...;)

Me 3 as well.
But, when chewing my food, I have to chew it 50 times before swallowing. Unlike the rest of the family, 3 chews and its gone. I always finish last at the table.

I text too many people all the time. So much that it annoys them to buggery.
Oh and I fart in bed so loud that it wakes my neighbours up.....

Whenever I speak, I mutter exactly what I've said under my breathto make sure I said it right, or something. I have no clue why I do it, my mates always pick me up on it, really weird habit.

If I buy something and get change I have to put the coins into my wallet from largest denomination to lowest ie. $2 then $1, 50c, 20c, then 10c, and finally 5c.
It's one of those things I HAVE to do

on a similar note to that i always put notes into my wallet in order so that 5's are at the front and then working back in order. all must be the right way up too and preferably the same side facing

Lol! What if you were making a speech or something, and there was a microphone?!?

When someone is talking to me in a quiet place, I turn side-on to them. I have better hearing in my left ear, but not so much as to make it necessary to hear.

When someone is talking to me somewhere with ambient noise (often as simple as the tv or music playing at normal levels), I stare intently at their lips, and tilt my head to the left (like a dog does). I'm only hypothesizing here, but I think I'm actually lip-reading rather than actually listening to what they say, as I really struggle to decipher conversations from the 'hubbub'.

Conversely, I don't know how loud I am talking in group situations, I often find either people think I'm yelling, or they begin talking, not realising I'm still talking as my volume has dropped. It can be quite disconcerting, but my friends now know to look at me when we're talking.

Crack all my fingers and knees and ankles. But i have to with my knees or else they flare up:(
Do you pull your fingers out or crack back? I pull em out.

Also have to crack my neck (loud as) all the time.

another weird habit i have is when i am getting out of the toilet at home i have to turn of the lights while the door is still swinging to shut. I often stuff it up and get my fingers jammed but it's worth it.:thumbsu:

I can't watch TV unless the volume's on an even number.

If I lose my wallet or phone, I won't be able to get to sleep until I find it.

Before I leave the house, I'll check that the heater's off, then by the time I get to the front door I'll start doubting it's off, so I'll go back and check again.

I associate certain songs with certain colours, so whenever I hear them I'll have a different colour running through my head.

I can't eat leftovers unless it's takeaway.

When I'm in a group conversation, I'll go off on my own little tangent in my head, more often than not ending up with a thought that has nothing to do with the original topic.

The clock on my phone's set to twelve minutes behind the actual time, but my alarm clock's set the same amount of time ahead, so when I wake up in the morning I know I've got a bit of time to stay in bed.

I push my thumb into the base joint and with the forefinger i pull up:thumbsu:
