This is the sort of stuff that at times makes me proud to be an Aussie. Not because its Joffa, a Collingwood supporter etc, but the fact that we'll get around and support each other as Australians.

A+ post.

I instantly recognised him at the SOTW Maribyrnong signup day on Saturday at WO. I asked him if he was spying and he laughed and said the SOTW program was a 'great initiative'. Lives locally. Saw he chucked on the cap and had a photo done.

As far as I'm aware, this bloke does a fair bit for the less fortunate that goes unadvertised.

Not to disparage the bloke, as I'm sure he's decent fellow. But why do we even know who Joffa is?

why? he's a well known personality in the world of the AFL supporter base.

btw Im sure there are a number of hard core supporters from other clubs who have bought memberships to help the club out. Joffa wouldn't be the first or last

He didn't 'buy' a membership, a 3 game membership is part of the SOTW package

It's not about the money; it's about the sentiment. Hardcore supporters who can balance out their love of their club and the ideals of going into battle against 17 teams, against a humanistic viewpoint of what our club is going through are good people.

When we are a power house I would hope that we can look down on the Collingwoods, Carltons and Essendons with the same degree of charity and goodness in our heart!
Collingwood yes. I'm not sure I'm quite ready to be charitable to the other two yet.
But maybe in another 60 years... who knows?

Collingwood's fine. But sorry, I don't support cheats, whether it be of the salary cap variety or of the drugs variety.

IMO you've got to separate the supporters from the clubs. We're Aussies after all and do a good job helping each other out at times.. Generally people are good/tolerant/compassionate

Carlton/Essendon supporters, as a majority, are the worst supporters out there. They think their club has done nothing wrong and that they're the best club in Australia. I have no time for them.

I don't mind joffa, he does a lot of work for the community and makes me extra happy seeing him sad at footy games.
Glad to see he's taking his health seriously.
Sons of the West Program is a great program

Essendon supporters. Without a doubt. Although the crazy cow in the Carlton cheer squad who threatened to punch me after Grants 4th goal was nearly as bad as they are....

Sentiment I'm not so sure, this membership comes free.

Didn't a number of Collingwood players 'self-report' for illicit stuff. I see little difference.
I wouldn't trust any clubs/players these days to be PE drug clean given all the AFL do is try to hide it.

Yo. Negative nancy. Did you read his Facebook post in the start of the thread? I'm not saying I want his pity - just saying the sentiment is solid amongst a sea of one eyed supporters who take very fixed opinions about things and can never see the positives. ............in a sea of one eyed viewpoints who can never see the positives...................

They'd have our club kicked out in an instant if it meant they could get their blood stained hands on the likes of Bontempelli or Macrae, and they'd pass it off as some 'greater good' ideal so Tassie could have a team, or something like that.

Even the ones that like us would change their tune if we won a flag or two.

I like Collingwood. Like any club, they've got their fair share of idiots, but they've stood by us while other clubs circled like vultures.
