Toumpas, Watts and Trengove didn't cost us much. It's not like we sold the farm for them.

Watts probably could've been handy in our crack in 2020 if it wasn't for that horrendous injury he got in 2019. It was a Trent Hentschel like career ender, we obviously couldn't have foreseen that.

Luko is the only one that has cost us a bit.
And Dixon we overpaid. That the only club Gold Coast has managed to screw over (multiple times) is Port, tells you about how poor our trade team / club has been the last decade.

I fully understand how the trade worked but at the end of the day it was one big trade involving 3 clubs, if we keep Houston none of this happens. He was worth 2 first round picks but we needed class players and we end up with this list instead!
Lukosius terrible
Berry Jury’s out
Atkins that was scandalous
Richards has done quite well but even he was an unproven 25 year old who had played 9 AFL games and was given a 3 year deal.
You missed Whitlock - got pick 29 from GC that became 33. He's the one that might make the deal look ok in 10 years time.
We also upgraded pick 39 to 36 which became pick 38 and Moraes.

We were never going to keep Houston after Hinkley promised him a trade mid season when he said he wanted to return home. I will assume for now that Hinkley did that after talking to Davies and Cripps.

A 1st and a 2nd round pick for Dixon is what we paid for Ryder and both were All Australian's and we built our whole forward territory gameplan around Dixon, so I don't think we over paid for him, especially compared to only getting 5 years out of Ryder and 1 season was completely lost with his drug ban. Dixon played for 9 season and 150 games for us so that was a decent return for a mid 20's player.

Parker isn't much chop at drafting KPPs and rucks, especially with 1st and 2nd round picks, so we have to give away a bit to get these type of mature players.

Unfortunately, can't disagree

This club should be shamed into oblivion for the blatent waste of money and stuffing this club with such ridiculous descisions.
An investigation should be made into the blind stupidity of these wastefull bas#ards.

He won't be delisted as some have mentioned. But if he ends up having another poor season (this injury doesn't help) would it be unreasonable for Port to try and renegotiate the existing contract at some point or even ask the question? Would Jack potentially feel I am not giving value for money....I'll take a slight pay cut.

He obviously has no obligation to do that, and Port were the ones stupid enough to give him the deal but some of the Port hierarchy must be thinking WTF were we doing.
Easiest way to avoid situations like this is to ensure player contracts are more incentivised based. It’s not uncommon to see players have a spike in their performances when their current contract is about to expire. I’m certainly not advocating for clubs to screw players over, but there needs to be a bit of balance when contracts are negotiated so clubs aren’t taking on the majority of the risk.

Yes Whitlock is the one player on our list that looks like he has a bright future.👍

I’d be surprised if we were to use more than two picks mid year?

There simply isn’t the depth.

Possibly a likely Ruck and the best available forward or midfielder?

A long term view on both?
Just treat them like train ons. Select 4 on 6 month contracts and see who earns a full list spot..

Do we know this isn't the case now? How?
