If you saw Prendergast's post draft interview, you got the impression that he didn't have his own way. Not surpising that he left shortly after. Neeld was clear as to the types he wanted.

In other words his good picks weren't the ones he wanted.

Prendergast was still always very good with later picks such as Tom McDonald but he just went way to upside early instead of just picking the best player

Ahh ok fair enough. Main reason came here was I like Dean Kent as a player and just wanted to say I was impressed with how you guys went about it on Thursday.

Taggert and Tynan were both Neeld selections IIRC - Neeld was very impressed by the effort Taggert put into an evaluation/questionnaire he handed out to players.

The thing I like about Kent as a later selection is that he has a couple of standout attributes, his kicking length and his speed.

I think if everything had gone well for him this year he could have been a much higher selection (take for example Hrovat's elevation on an injury free year)

This kid is going to be a gun! He reminds me of a young Sam Mitchell, same style of play, same build. When i saw Kent play he has a great sense of winning the footy, great at reading the play, great hands and knows how to win the clearences and so good in close. I reckon Melbourne are onto a winner here.

Agree, you can't judge now but there definitely seems to be a type of player that you targeted in the last couple of drafts. As we've found out they could well turn out duds but at least there's a plan in place.

I do like that we've gone for players with speed. It's pretty clear we've addressed our needs this off-season. Only holes I can see now is a small defender and a small forward.

Interesting. We did the same thing when Dimma came in where there was a set criteria that players had to meet to be recruited. You guys under Neeld seem to have a very similar criteria. (tough, skilled, good character) Without watching any of them play this year even Prendergast seemed to get a couple of good ones in Taggart and Tynan.

In regards to his role at Carlton lets all hope its as a recruiter.
