Well, der: LC admits The Hills is staged
It's one of the most touching moments of The Hills' fifth season: when dirt bag Spencer apologises to his archenemy LC for spreading a nasty rumour that she starred in a sex tape.
Too bad the apology never actually happened.
In the second-last episode of season five — which is yet to air in Australia — Spencer phones LC to say he's sorry, attempting to convince her to attend his wedding to Heidi, LC's former best friend.
But LC, aka Lauren Conrad, has told the hosts of The View that the touching scene was staged for the cameras.
"To be perfectly honest, I wasn't on the other line of that call," said LC, who recently quit The Hills. "That was filmed and I wasn't on the other end ... So I didn't even know about [the apology]."
Though Spencer's apology was faked, LC did wind up attending the wedding for Heidi's benefit.
"I felt like [the wedding] was a few hours of my time and as much as I didn't agree with it, I might someday regret not doing it," she said.
The reality show has frequently been accused of being staged. In March, starlet Audrina Patridge insisted to TVFIX that The Hills isn't fake, though she confessed that many scenes are "re-enacted" for the cameras and then heavily edited.
