I'm sure you guys really enjoyed the win tonight. CONGRATULATIONS! I hope you sung the club song long and loud and many many times. After sticking with the club after such a difficult year, and doing it with a somewhat black sense of humour ;) , well....I'm just rapt that you've been able to leave the MCG with a huge smile on your face. :)

Good luck for 2002.

Second what Shinners said. You blokes went out and wanted it more than us (which is becoming to frequent for my liking, but im diverging of subject).

Well played tonight, im filthy to the core on the result yet thems the breaks. Only hope that we havent done the wrong thing by you long term by giving Thomas the job for next season! ;)

Hope to catch up with you blokes next time around, your buying the beers too! :p

Cheers.

Thanks Shinners,

To win a game that I thought was out of our reach was satisfying enough but to win in those circumstances was even better.

We sang the song loud and proud!

Of course we're a clever club. It was identified early on that we may go long periods without singing the song so that's why we have the fewest lyrics of any teams song.

;)

It's a bloody good feeling. Something to hang onto for the next 6 months. Now if only we can hang onto Hall and Everitt!

And I have to mention Matty Capuano. Why has it taken him until round 22 to dominate like he did tonight? I honestly didn't think he had the ability. Now I know he has the ability, why can't he show it all the time? ;)

Thanks Grendel,

Not sure what went wrong with the Hawks but there's nothing like a finals series to seperate the contenders from the pretenders. You're more likely to win than play another shocker I reckon.

Sorry about not meeting you guys tonight. I've been in bed with the flu since Wednesday. Believe it or not I nearly missed tonights match and only decided that 6pm that I would go. I thought I've seen every match this year I may as well go to the last and end the nightmare. I'm too scared to contemplate how I would be feeling if I did decide not too attend. ;)

thanks shinners and grendel (if you had of asked last night i would have bought you any drink you wanted ;) ), it was a fantastic night and i've been wearing a huge grin all day.

i had forgotten what winning was like and to get up on the last kick of the night is still a bit of a shock to me. bazza boy you beauty. we've been close on so many occasions this year that i didn't really expect to win even though we were within striking distance with a few minutes to go.

did we sing the song and celebrate!!! after the wild jumping up and down like drug crazed teenagers in the mosh pit we raced back to the bullring where cries of 'go sainters' and 'sainters you beauty' etc etc were loudly shouted by the loyal and faithful. for a second i felt a touch sorry for the hawks supporters who were skulking around the walls with heads bowed but that thought didn't last long because a rendition of 'oh when the saints' had started. only a small group started it but by the time it reached the first 'go marching in' the place was roaring. even the conservative and shy members of the loyal and faithful were belting it out with a gusto rarely heard in the members pavillion.

the rest of the night was one of those great boozy nights where we talked all things st kilda. by the end of the night we had put all the pieces into place for a tilt at the flag in 2002. did i mention boozy :D

to Grendel & Shinners,
thanks for your kind thoughts, also, I noted your offer re pre-game drinks grendel, goodonya.

to my Saints mates,
after bravely fronting up week after week you guys totally deserved a win. Personally I needed it to overcome my desolation after the weagle disaster. At least now optimism for next year is not based solely on rhetoric. If we can get to 8+ wins next year that would see a significant lowering of the pain : pleasure ratio :D

Now for some off-season entertainment. Should I even wish that we match last years carnival? I'd love to see strong progress, I'm not interested in the roller-coaster.

We did our fair share of celebrating for you Karnaby. :D

With some of the kids coming through, the future isn't looking too bad.

The trading period will be interesting. Firstly to see whether we can hang on to Spider and Hall. While I'd love to keep them, we really can't accept any ridiculous pay claims. (Referring more to Hall here) As important as the both of them are, the club do need to make a stand that says the football club is bigger than any individual. Of course I still want them to stay. ;)

I don't think we'll see a repeat of last years trading results but I would like to see us relatively active over the period. There area areas on the field where we do lack the neccessary depth and a couple of successful trades could go a long way towards rectifying this.

Let's aim for the finals, I've seen enough losses to last a life time.

:D
