Despite the loss i feel happy. Kirk and Roos being sent off in a close semi-final is no shame.

I thank them for all they have done for our club. Even though we lost i hope our young players learn from the experience and go on to better things.

Was barracking for the Swannies! Can reciprocate the feelings of a close loss in a semi final. All the best to Kirky and Roos, both champs of the game, a huge loss of character and class :(

This is exactly how I feel. WE fought and we fought hard. No shame in losing by 5 points.:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Bad luck Swannies.
Almost a fairy tale for Kirk.
No disgrace in a very good year.:thumbsu:

ps Kirks words after the game were so great. A real loss to all footy lovers.

Bad luck
Great game
As an old bulldog who used to watch at the junction oval great matches in front of 4 or 5 thousand supporters it is great to see us still alive to play in such a great game in front of thousands
always one of my fav clubs cause of Bobby S

Well done swans on the great year. Definitely exceeded my expectations. :thumbsu: I am very optimistic about the future and I look forward to seeing how Longmire does as coach in 2011.

Thank you for everything Brett and Paul. :(

This may sound cheesy, but they've actually inspired me to lead a better life and they've both been my role models since 2003. Not that I want to be a footballer or anything, but just their character/personality traits I find inspirational.

Paul Roos with his calm and cautious approach. Truly a man who knows what he's doing in crisis situations. You can always see a good leader when someone has control of their own emotions. Plato said, "The first and best victory is to conquer self." Paul Roos is the human embodiment of this quote, imo. An enterprising leader that created a new culture at the swans and led us to a premiership. An original thinker. Didn't care what others (media) said about him and he is the epitome of persistence. Loved and admired by those all around him, he's everything most people want to be. His players are basically willing to go out and almost kill themselves for his gameplan (See Bevan). Oozes definiteness of plans and decision.

Brett Kirk a hard battler. Bleeds red and white. Struggled through his early career and overcame diversity. Eventually won out in the end. Loved and admired by everyone in the team and opposition alike. Much like Paul Roos, has great control over his own emotions. Has the courage to put his body on the line every time.

Both Paul and Kirk are such great leaders and possess personalities I aspire to be (Not quite there yet though, admittedly). :o

Again, thank you for everything Brett and Paul. I hope you too Brett will stay at the club post-retirement in some shape or form. :thumbsu:

Go swans.

I'm going to take a break from my precious study time to toast the two amazing servants of your club.

Brett Kirk, for his composure over the years, he may not have been the best, but he is/was of the most respected.

Paul Roos, what a great coach, I'd wish to have a coach like him at our club, from Bottom Four to finals to a Premiership, just brilliant. He's done well for himself.

Must feel bad to say goodbye but alas everything must come to an end, it happens at all clubs. Hirdy <3.

Grats on the season guys, and hopefully(..?) Godzke fulfils his promise :P

Couldnt of said it better myself Andy!

they started/continued their careers in the 90's ..... sounds silly but it feels like they are part of my teenage years :(

Good Luck Kirky & Roosey :thumbsu:

I wasnt going to post on this thread after reading a few ignorant comments about Brad Johnson, however, last nights game was what we all love about footy, it had it all.

2 sides, one with a lot of youth and hope, yet, with a captain whom has given his all for the club.

The other side, with a few injuries and down in confidence, also with a captain whom has given his all for the club.

But it was a great contest, it had the potential to be a blow out, but a 1st gamer ignited a come back, the last quarter was tense.

When the final siren sounded, i can only speak for where i was sitting, not one supporter left. Personally i wanted to clap my side off, but more so, i stayed to clap Kirky off. He has been a great leader for your side, and even spilt blood in the last game.

Good luck Captain Kirk and to South for next year:thumbsu:
