Well i for one will anyway.

Many of you might think a new thread isn't needed. But well, i do.

It's a shame injuries got in the way of what could've been a career that went anywhere. At his best was practically unstoppable, and a massive asset to the team, helping everyone walk taller.

Unfortunately injuries crueled him, and at a time where he should be reaching his peak, he's in a steady decline.

Wish him all the best at the Dockers, hopefully, somehow he can regain a bit of mobility and have a good few years with them.

Was a past favorite of mine.

Agree. Solomon really was a great backman for us in his prime.

Contributed to the 2000 flag, and should be praised for his loyalty during his time at the club.

There is no doubt in my mind that he was forced to play injured (knee) for most of last year and that seemed to effect his resilience.

Good luck to him. And its a good trade for both teams. He will have the opportunity to play for a flag contender, and we have the opportunity bring more youth into the side.

Had some terrific years for us. Who knows what could have happened if he didn't do his knee when he did - all his problems lately seem to be related to that.

Will always be an Essendon Premiership player who played in the best team of all time.

Good luck to him in Freo, hope he plays great footy just not against us.

Im going to miss the big fella, he was always one of my favourites. He used to play the HBF role like a linebacker. He seemed to have a knack of running blokes down who you thought would be quicker than them. He hasnt been at his best over the last couple of years for a number of reasons.

I wish him all the best at Freo as he owes nothing to the essendon FC.

Was one of my favourites and I'm not sure how I feel about this yet.

I was hoping he could get back to playing some good footy again after a good pre-season.

Oh well... sometimes you gots to be a little ruthless to try and get back to the top again.

Was a little concerned about his nocturnal activities.

Very well put.

Another strong backman gone.
Dunno about this one yet. Right now im spewing.

All the best Solly.

Agreed.

Two third rounders (who in all probability will play at Bendigo for two seasons and then get delisted) for a bloke who made the other players walk taller and played his heart out for the club.

Good luck Solly.

Good luck Solly,
Hope at least one of those draft picks we picked up can be half as good as what he was.
I'd be very happy if that was the case.

I think the club did the right thing.

We offered him one year, that was right considering his body/form.
He knocked it back so we traded him to where he wanted to go.

Great clubman, great player at his best and should be remembered that way.

Austin Lucy would want to develop in a hurry.

The only way that is going to be possible is if Essendon put him into the seniors, This year is a rebuilding year so what do we have to lose?
Nothing.
2007 is crunch time for a lot of players on our list. I have a feeling it's going to be a new look Bombers in 2007/2008.

Apart from shattering the confidence of a kid who in all probability won't be physically ready to play on big bodied forwards?

Essendon have been known to do it before... Kepler Bradley?
It's the best way to learn.

As well as Andrew Lee

Also Fletch better not get injured suspended...

if fletcher went down, our backline would be worse than carltons.

but it would be interesting to see, how lee, lucy etc went without solly to

take over fletchers spot.

all the best solly:thumbsu:

Kep is nearly 100kg's.

Lucy wasn't even playing key back for Bendigo.

So what do you suggest we do?
Keep him in the reserves for another few years until he bulks up a bit?
By that stage better backliners will be at the club & we won't need him down there anymore.

I suggest we wait until December before we panic too much about the state of our backline. We may well have Thornton and Hansen on our list by that time.

I suggest then suggest we start playing Lucy at FB at Bendigo to see if he's at least up to that level.

I suggest we pump as many AFL games into Andy Lee, he'll be alright.

But it would be nice to see Lucy develop into that Solly role.

Greed on everything you've just said.
Good test for young Lucy... Hope he's up to it.

I am having a very crazy thought at the moment, and probably in a minute I will be over my tempory insanity  !!

How about we consider drafting Ben Hart with Pick 68 or a second round PSD Pick? I know his body is pretty well stuffed but he has indicated he would want to go around for one more year.

It could be a very short term stop gap solution, particualry if we dont get a Thornton or any over experienced key defender. It would allow Lee, Lucy (Hansen maybe) some extra time to develop, and could mean we use Hart instead of McPhee or NLM if Fletch does go down.

I reckon if we draft Hansen, between him, Lee and Bradley we can cover it more so than what Hart could.
Lee is ready to step up to senior footy and I think Hansen could make some sort of impact straight away.

Hart doesn't really play on the big forwards anyway.
