Points Matching- How to Calculate:

Picks 1-18: Points value of pick less 10% discount
Picks 19-36: Points value of pick less 84 points discount
Picks 37+ : Next available pick

From the points required deduct the value of the next available pick and repeat until the total of the picks used exceeds the value required. The value of the surplus is then used to add back the pick closest to that value

For example a bid at pick 2 for Uwland:
• Pick 2 = 2481 points less 10% means 2233 points are needed to match
• Gold Coast have picks 15 (973), 18 (836), 24 (621) totalling 2430 points
• There is a surplus of 197 points which is equivalent to pick 43 (184 points)
• So to match, Gold Coast lose picks 15,18,24 and gain pick 43

Avery Thomas.

Thomas rocketed into top 30 contention after building into the Allies setup, and remains firmly in the thoughts of recruiters after starring at the draft combine. Having only fully launched into football over an athletics career heading into this year, his development has been strong and he’ll only continue to live up to his upside. Thomas’ athletic attributes are as good as they come, so if he can refine his improvement areas there is a highly promising base to work with. Clubs will also value his outward loyalty, having expressed a desire to get out of his home state and repay the faith to whichever club he ends up at – despite Tasmania’s incumbent AFL team. That makes him a relatively safe pick, likely among the second round.

Supposedly St Kilda are redrafting Ryan Byrnes in the National Draft instead of the Rookie Draft (because of reasons?) but for the purposes of this draft lets just say they don't do that.

Saints pick Zane Peucker with pick 51

Woodville-West Torrens/South Australia
FWD, 179cm

Puecker is one of the better small forwards in the draft, creative and damaging with every touch. He's quick, smart and could play senior football next year with his football IQ. (ESPN)

Melbourne bid on Will Darcy, son of a terrible footy commentator.

Bulldogs have no picks and as far as I’m aware no vacant list spots after using all 3 picks

Darcy becomes a demon but I must say it’s an odd choice since Melbourne also have Kalani White (son of Jeff) nominated as a F/S they will likely add as a rookie

I picked him on the basis of his dad and brother being really good so maybe he will be too, once he gets onto a weight program and stops being a beanpole.

Brissy will have Liam Hetherton.

SNAPSHOT: “A tall marking threat inside 50 who kicks goals in bunches and moves well for his size.” – Michael Alvaro

Having taken a back seat to several eventual draftees last year, Liam Hetherton was primed to snatch centre stage in 2025. The key forward managed nine Coates Talent League games with the Murray Bushrangers as a bottom-ager, learning off the likes of Jack and Matt Whitlock, Joe Berry, and leading goalkicker Josh Murphy. With all of them moving on, it was his turn to spearhead the Bushies’ attack.

Hetherton showed signs of doing exactly that early in the season, booting 11 goals in his first three CTL appearances. He also represented the National Academy in two games against VFL opposition and continued to show growth. That was until two stress fractures were discovered in his back, with the 197cm talent forced to undergo a 16-week recovery which ruled him out for the rest of the year.

While the start to Hetherton’s top-age campaign was positive, he sought to peak at the National Championships in Allies colours. That opportunity was taken away from him, as was the chance to compete at the National Draft Combine. Hetherton is expected to get back into the swing of full training around mid-December, potentially priming him for a strong preseason heading into senior footy.

Being drafted would cap off a storied journey for Hetherton. He started out up in Mackay (Queensland) and went on to represent the GWS Giants Academy during the 2023 Under 16 National Championships. The North Albury product then progressed into the Bushrangers Under 18 program and represented NSW/ACT in the Under 17 Futures trials, bursting onto the scene with five goals against Vic Country.

Hetherton’s progression continued with another three majors in the National Futures showcase on AFL Grand Final Day, which went even further to securing his AFL Academy induction. A big Western Bulldogs supporter who grew up watching his dad play footy, Hetherton models his own game on some of the Dogs’ prominent key forwards and will look to join them at the elite level.

A suggestion as an interested onlooker... given that these Mocks sometimes drag on for days or weeks due to some posters not being online during their turns etc., maybe next year's Mock could be done like the real thing?

Set aside a 3 hour period for the draft and let any prospective List Managers know that to nominate, you will need to be in attendance during that time. Draw the teams and give the List Managers 1 or 2 days to research and prepare their order of preference for draftees and then the Mock can be held as a live event.

Just a suggestion.

Don’t mind this idea at all

Will definitely put it in the memory bank for next year

Hopefully my Alzheimer’s doesn’t lose the thought

Tie a piece of string around your finger Keys.
If he ties it too tight this time next year he will wonder why he now only has 9 fingers.

Good idea though the draft in one night.
