I know how you feel Manu.

I am stoked. Absolutely stoked. Before the season, I thought it'd be nice to send David off with a sucessful postseason, but I thought we needed a lot more improvement to be where we areeee. I mean, this is feeling like '99, except we are a much younger team going through a transitional process.

Stephen Jackson showed up. 24 points 5-10 from the perimeter.

Tony Parker was really ill before the game, throwing up and all the nasty things associated with eating the wrong thing and Claxton was way off his best, so someone had to step up. Enter Steve Kerr!
I mean, the guy has always had a shot under pressure. It's his only assest that has kept him in the game for so long. Dallas leave him open, bang, out to Kerr. Bang. Three.

We went back to simple basketball.

What pleases me to no end is how we put the defensive clamp on Dallas in the last to go on a 25-2 run. Defence in the 4th from the Spurs - exactly what made us sucessful in 1999.

Full credit to Dallas. They played a great series, especially when you take the fact that some of their big guys were out for the majority of the series, in Bradley and Nowitski(who just happens to be the best Mav)

I'm unbelievably excited for the Finals. I'll post more on it later.

Steve Kerr = Fearless!

I would take the wide open shots that Kerr had tonight. Not that I'd hit at the same percentage... but can I be called fearless too? ;)

Exactly. The Mavs put all their focus on guarding Timmy D that they forgot about guarding our perimeter guys and we capitalised on that. (About time)

Oh, and if you are a 6foot 2ish white dude that can't jump, but can hit threes to take the Spurs into the NBA Finals, sure, you can be fearless. ;)

'6"4, mild hops, can stroke the 3.

Call me the bush league Keith Van Horn.

Does anyone care to look back a few pages where I complained that Popovich just wasnt using Kerr enough off the bench. I said that all teams collapse on Duncan leaving guys wide open for three's. Finally he puts Steve Kerr in the game and I wasnt surprised at the result.

Saw it for years in Chicago.

Great game though and a great series...pity Irk went down, if he hadnt perhaps the result would have been different.

I remember that jod. Great call.
But, what is also heart-warming is that Kerr played active defense while he was in.

:D
But, it's exactly my point.
We had Parker ill, and Claxton ineffective, and we were down double digits.
We needed someone to make shots, which was Kerr; but Kerr's main drawback has always been his defence. But full credit to Stevie - he played some "inspired defensive ball" :p

I think you are over confident and you underestimate just how good Kenyon Martin has become. Duncan probably will defend K-Mart but Martin wont be defending Duncan all that much. Collins will probably get the job on Duncan and even Mutombo may see some action. As for Duncan trying to defend Martin, that should be interesting to see.

Duncan is a great one on one defender but Martin likes to isolate himself about 12 feet away from the bucket and then face up his opponent. No back to basket stuff with K-Mart...then he jab steps, crosses over, spins...whatever but he usually gets to the hole and scores. He is extremely athletic and quick so im not sure how Duncan will defend, not to say he cant but Im certainly going to be interested in that matchup. IMO you underestimate K-Marts abilities.

care to debate anymore on K-marts ability jod??? Isnt it amazing whenever a player is playing sh*thouse that they blame it on a flu/headache/period pains/nuclear war..........

What are you going on about?

Kenyon Martin had a coming out party in the first 4 games of the series and was the only Net bringing his game night in and night out. K-Mart had arrived. In Game 5 he was clearly effected by the flu but after the game he made no attempt whatsoever to use that as an excuse.

Game 6 was bad, he just shot really really bad. But Martin has arrived, will no doubt be an All Star next season.

His game and consistency really stepped up this year. Last year, he was a nightmare in the fantasy leagues with all his suspensions. He should take another step next year, especially if Kidd stays.

I don't know about All Star, but he does have the 'potential' to be a very good player. But, Martin is very dependant on those around him and if Kidd leaves, then Kenyon might find it a bit tougher to get into the games.

I dont think Martin is dependant on those around him. He does play better with Kidd but let's be honest, who wouldnt. Kidd makes everyone around him better.

As for him being an All Star, I cant see many East forwards keeping him out of the lineup next year.

True, but I see him probably behind maybe Jermaine O'Neal, Ben Wallace, and maybe even Antoine Walker.

Unless Jermaine comes to the West of course. ;)

Wallace is a centre in the East. Walker will be lucky to ever hit an All-Star game again after his performance in the play-offs. KMart is a shoo-in for the All-Star team next year, barring death.

Correct ....

Walker in front of K-Mart.... hahahhahaahahah :D

I personally wouldn't have Walker in because I think he is kinda....soft, but for some unknown reason, the NBA seems to be real high on him.

Even if Walker makes next year's All Star Game (which he wont IMO) that still only leaves Walker and O'Neal in front of K-Mart. He will be an AS next season, no doubt about it.
