Western Society.

Is western society in a downward spiral of decay with drugs, crime, divorce rates and single parent families, the low birth rate(not even replacing the population ) etc etc etc.

Are we slowly heading like every other great civilization before us, the Roman empire, the classical Greeks, the great Egyptian civilization and many others.

Have we had our turn in the sun, who will replace us.

Any thoughts. (bit heavy for a monday )

i dont think anyone will replace us for a while yet, but the next world war is going to be a helluva stink and i can see us fighting all wars after that with sticks and stones. It will be fought on religious sides as well, which makes it twice as dangerous. People dying for their beliefs is a lot more dangerous than people dying for their countries. I think that for a lot of the current crop of suicide bombers, their religion will always mean a lot more to them than the country they 'represent'

I think that's just the way our society is. I don't believe we're heading down, capitalist nature means someone is always going to be in control.

F****ed if I know who would replace us anyway? The other cultures would have to catch up to us first before they could overtake us. And looking at Russia's attempts at that in the early 1900s, I don't think that's going to be happening with any ease. Where are Russia now? Certainly not equal to Western culture, let alone be ahead of it.
