WHAT the fck has happened to the Swans' alleged hardness?
apart from jude and kirky, we seem unable to consistently lay tackles that stick, and opposition teams seem to have their way with us every time they move towards our defensive 50m zone
kennelly and c bolton today have been pathetic in one-on-one chases, c bolton has replaced leo for giving away stupid, blatant free kicks on forwards, where's brennan and grundy? what positions are they playing?

i'm spewing right now and have given up on watching the dogs slaughter us, we can't get a hand on them through the middle, they're another team who seems to just get players free in space

we had a four-goal headstart today and we've gone home

where's the accountability???

70-36 before halftime ... we've managed three behinds for the quarter

soft in the head too, it seems
richards' decision to play on from a mark 15m out almost in front in the first quarter was moronic, and a hint of sheer arrogance
he knew where on the field he was, there was NO NEED to do anything other than go back and kick for goal
it was a crucial mistake and just inexcusable

Jesus, when Ted did that I wanted to put my fist through the TV.

A good side would go on with it after a lead like we got. It was just a dream start. Obviously the Dogs are a good start and you expect them to come back, but we've just stopped and we've got the fumbles again. It's disgusting and I'm not even confident we'll beat Freo next week.

exactly
you'd think after the first 5 minutes we'd have taken at least some confidence out of it and think "right, we can do this"
but we've just stopped ... completely
as for richards, geez, play on if you're out wide or outside 50, but 15m out almost in front ... ??? just STOP and KICK THE heckin'G GOAL

the tackling's improved in this third quarter (sorry, still in gameday mode), but kennelly just gifted welsh that mark and goal
kennelly's not right, he can't be, he comes off second best every one-on-one contest these days, gets brushed off the ball too easily

kenelly wasn't shocking today.

BUT i agree with you, our tackling and running is shot atm. Insipid pressure made it easy for the doggies to get into their forward 50 resulting in an inevitible goal for them.

Hold your tackles guys and when it's play on, RUN AT THEM and apply some bloody pressure, don't just stand their and let them make the most advantageous decision.... raaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh

kennelly was pretty bad
he's either worried too much about his injuries or out of form
seriously, he made some dreadful blunders and was soft in the contest
he, craig bolton and grundy made a shambles of our defence for most of the game
LRT was outstanding, he and crouch at least offered something

he did a few good things down field but you're right our defence was shot, having said that the doggies have a pretty good forward line.

FFS! rancid

Had they kicked straight and not given away a few gifts they would have won easy! Thats without 3 of our best players and a heap brand newbies!!

Disappointing YES, but try not to get so grumpy all the time!!!

OH They have not gone soft!!!

Nor was Kennelly bad!!! ... just not his high superstar standard

Ask someone to dislocate your shoulders a few times.... kick your knee caps out whislt they're at it and then see how grumpy and sore you'll be!!!:D

he knows what to expect, if he's not right, he shouldn;t play
he was beaten every time he was in a physical contest
brad johnston beat either him or craig bolton off the ball every contest

it's not like we were playing a form team, and we got a four-goal start
yes i am heckin'g grumpy, pssed off, extremely disappointed

we again played like morons, and made some dreadful errors
grumpy isn't even close

Not soft, I think. Bad decisions killed us. A team can only afford so many 'deer-in-headlights' players, and at the moment, we're carrying many. I understand we have vital players out, some players had an off day & young guys will make mistakes, but it wasn't just the young guys.

The thing that probably capped off our game today was probably Teddy's goal. Great attack at the ball, great movement (for the majority of the game) .. only to stuff it up whenever it came time to finish.

Brabazons mistake: When I played you (still unless you correct me) are not allowed within 5 m of the man with the free kick! He was knocked by an opponent! FREE KICK or 50 m!!!!

OK his debut and someone called for it... he will learn and get better for it

Grundys mistake: Again just inexperience a senior player called him to centre it... when he gets more confident as a permanent fixture he will think more!

Teds mistake: we have taken a Essendon reject loser and now he can hold down KP back and forward!!!! yes... but he was asked to play everywhere today to fill vacant positions!

Shots at goal: meh...

I have threatened on this board several times to turn up at training and demand I teach them a few basics.... but hey... even Buddy Hollywood Dork superstar can't kick em either!!!!

HAVE FAITH!!!!....:D

It aint over by a long way yet!!!

They tried their best to win that... against all odds!

Played more attacking footy I luv'd it!!!

Champs , just wait and see!!:)

i was not even thinking about brabazon's "mistake" and i have said elsewhere i didn;t blame him at the time
firstly, you're right, i was waiting for it to be 50m i never knew you could get that close to the man
but even so, it was mattner's fault for taking boyd that close, whatever mattner was doing he caused confusion for the young bloke
mattner has a tendency to be confusing with the ball, now he's shown he can be the same without it

you say shots at goal "meh", but this wasn't just any shot at goal
it was a mark 15m out, almost in front
there is NO percentage in playing on unless you know 100 per cent you are under no threat
richards didn't ... COULD NOT have known that, seeing as he marked with a defender hanging off him, but he must have known how close to goal he was
so the sensible thing to do is go back and kick the simple set shot

Spot on...Boyd had every right to follow Mattner when he ran behind Brabazon. Bizzarre goal that one.

the problem as myself (and other swans fans) see it is that boyd seemed to make physical contact with brabazon, which as far as the rule interpreatations are now, is illegal ... surely
that was where i did think the 50m would come from
but if not, fair enough, and mattner should not have been that close to the kid anyway

Agreed. Right on the money.

See this plenty of times where a man is "maning up" or chasing his opponent with his focus on the man and the player with the free kick runs back into the contest before taking his kick if it is deemed accidental and not a deliberate act to impede the player with the ball you wouldn't see a 50 paid generally. I was happy with the non call. I'd hate to see those go against the Swans. We got a couple of ok calls and missed a few but for once the umpiring didn't seem to have a biased feel.

Brabazon was reacting to a call where the player was running round the back about 3 or 4 metres off at the same time Mattner and Boyd were running around the back with Boyd the most aware of what was happening and next thing calamity. Made me say For f#$k sake but all in all it was a freak piece of play.

I'm being very defeatest now and just looking at the draw to see what needs to happen to just make the eight.

What a crap weekend !

Another Swans loss and I can hardly walk after hitting the goal post going for a mark - Another freak thing

Just like yesterday when I hot the goal post whilst horizontal

The umpire should've called for a stop in play. Clearly an infringement to Brabazon.

Moore is a very physical player and he wasn't there on Sunday.I think we have a couple of players who prefer to shirk the issue.

Fair enough rancid:)

....you seem to agree with me on the first point and you make an excellent point re Richards!!!

The only positive spin I can put on that is sometimes a "waltz in & slam it home" goal really can lift a side.... eg Micky O and those fat e-girl cheerquad nutters!!! Game over.

Richards will learn from that and has come a long, long, way! from being an Essendon reject... one of our best this year IMO!:thumbsu:
