just asking a simple quesiton here why is racing to win lighter then big el in the cox, arent they same age?

The strange thing about the Mahogany loss to Octagonal is that Mahogany came down the rail and lost by a nostril to Octagonal. The very next race the rail was moved out, basically saying that the going where Mahogany had run was no good.

Super run from a great horse.
 
The ride on Mahogany was as good as you will ever see. Hardly went round a horse and a credit to G. Hall to do as well as he did. Brilliant ride on Super two years before that as well.

Mahogany was also 1st up in the race.
Amazing horse.

ie would the margin between equal horses be 1 length if they were weighted 1kg different
Former profesional punter Don Scott used a system of 1.5 kg = 1 length.
He believed that to be most accurate for all distances.
