Hows McGuane feeling tonight seeing Taylor throw the ball away after the Essendon goal ?

Umpire "It's only a warning, its not time wasting"

LMAO Richmond should lodge a complaint and get that Umpire sacked :thumbsu:

I'm guessing McGuane would be thinking, "Hey, that's nothing unusual. Why wouldn't the ump turn a blind eye to an obvious breach of the rules?" (But that's only a guess).

I agree with your sentiments but I think you have an innaccurate quote of the umpire, although I may have misheard.

The umpire said (to paraphrase) he knew it was time-wasting, and gave him a warning for it. Monfries certianly wanted the free goal.

Unfortunately we copped a midget who wanted his time in the limelight and paid it without warning.

Yeah the McGuane free should never have been paid. Just no feel for the game.

I reckon to become an umpire you should've had to have played the game at some level. That way you can appreciate the emotions the players go through every week.

That midget was the 6 foot 1 Matty Nicholls. He's a Joke!
Brian Lake kicked the ball in the crowd 2 weeks ago! Joke!
The rule must be changed!

I noticed this too and immediately felt for you guys. Although I don't think a free kick should be given for this action, how can one player be given a certain goal, the harshest of in-game penalties, yet another player be given a mere warning?

Jarrod Waite and Luke McGuane could be forgiven for shaking their heads in disbelief. It's a shame when almost identical incidents can result in such vastly different interpretations.

I think this just highlights the inconsistency of umpiring.

We all knew it before, but this clearly shows that some of them are becoming bigger than the game itself.

I was watching the Coburg game last week and the umpiring was fantastic. They let play go and paid only what was obvious.

to be fair to the umpires i thought they were pretty good last night
obviously that was a decision that is debatable, but thats how it should be rather then wat happened to mcguane.

Of course they should. The AFL should recruit top line players approaching the end of their suburban and amateur careers and make it worth their while to become umpires.

who should get sacked, the umpire who gave the free against us or the one that didnt pay it last night.

The one who paid it against us the rule states that it is to be a warning and if it happens a second time by the same player then the umpire has discretionary powers to pay a free kick
Not jump on a minor first offence and have a team pay the biggest penalty available on gameday

If this is correct then they should sanction all three umpires on the field that day.

Aren't they meant to work together to make sure the correct decisions are made, or is it simply a case that none of them knew what they were doing that day:D.
