What about with a 3rd or 4th rounder? Could be interesting. He is from QLD so might have to take him the national or preseason drafts.

Tom Williams
Details:
Club: Kenmore/Queensland
DOB: 5 June 1986 Hgt: 195cm Wgt: 86kg
Position: Forward
Natural Foot: Right

Honours:
Queensland 2004
National Draft Camp 2004

Strengths: Williams is one of the more interesting stories in the draft. He attends Terrace school in Brisbane captained both the cricket and rugby union teams. He is also a very good runner and basketballer. In fact, Tom didn't even kick a footy until 2 years ago!

Despite this he has made rapid progress and played for Queensland in the carnival. He is a tall forward that is remarkably agile for his size and is a booming kick. Has good pace for his size as well.

Weaknesses: Has a lot to learn about the game still and would be a real gamble. Can go missing for large periods.

Footydraft.com comment: Two years ago the Lions picked Daniel Merrett who had a very similar background to Williams. This kid definitely has some serious potential, and could be a surprise if given time to learn the game. Of course, he would be a risk.

I like this kid as well as a Milburn-Buckland contingency plan.

Andrew Gilham
Details:
Club: East Burwood/Oakleigh
DOB: 6 August 1986 Hgt: 187cm Wgt: 84kg
Position: Half Back Flank
Natural Foot: Right

Honours:
National Camp 2004

TAC Stats:
2003: 9 games, 4 goals, 5.3 PPG
2004:

Strengths: The brother of Port's Stephen, Andrew is a medium-sized defender who can also pinch hit up forward. He is a tremendous reader of the play down back, disciplined and a good grab, even one-handed.

Gilham can also good forward and be impressive as he is quick on the lead and has sticky hands. He is a long kick and also a natural leader, likes to talk it up on the field.

Weaknesses: An in-between height of not tall enough for key position but too tall for midfield might concern some clubs. Not a huge possessions winner.

Footydraft.com comment: Has impressed me with his clever play and versatility during the year and is well worth selecting later in the draft, possibly as a 3rd or 4th defender.
