There has been alot of talk about L.Jetta, K.Lucas and co as possible draftees for next year but What about Wolfy (Brett Wolfenden)

He was in the Best Group last week and got 3 goals would he as a more mature rookie be another Rookie listing option like we did with Cockie.
He is only 20 atm and would be 21 at the start of next year, would he be worth a Rookie or even late draft pick.

He has been selected in the WA team this week and has from all accounts played fairly well all year.
Maybe Swannies can fill us in a bit more on his form this year, but going on previous years I would say he would be a great bench player or even play as a Half forward flanker that plays in the midfield.

what do yousé Reckon

Disposal is shithouse.

Essentially.

It's the one area of his game that lets him down and it's a pretty major flaw.

He is a poor disposer of the footy by foot.

Gotta love him though, he a tough bugger with a bit of mongrel, great tackler, quick, can find the pill and knows where the goals are. But his field kicking isn't and will never be AFL standard.

Towards the end of the WAFL last year I would of thought he was in line for a rookie listing and in ability I had him marginally ahead of Cockie. Unfortunatelly for him he was older and shorter than Cockie.

If I was him Id pay for a specialized kicking coach and just spend 3 hours 3 times a week kicking the ball and getting the mechanics right. I wouldnt say that he is beyond an AFL rookie list though as its possible one of the 16 teams will see something in him.. after we drafted Cockie though it shut the door on wolfy. For Freo to not draft him last year as well.....

I rate Wolfenden but someone within the Eagles must reckon his kicking is not improvable.

Other than his kicking he has a lot of qualities. Speed, hard at it, tackles, finds the ball, does the 1%ers.

FWIW, Carlton have done well taking some less glamourous and older Swan District from under our noses in Armfield and Garlett. I wish we would reverse the trend.

less glamourous?

Wolfy may be a better WAFL footy player then Armfield but Army's skills don't have an obvious flaw. They are of a pretty similar mould however.

I would say Garlett was a "glamourous" player if anything given his x-factor and ability to run with the ball. Essentially a poor man's Lewis Jetta.

What I really meant by "less glamourous" was "lower profile" and "not exceptionally rated".

For example, glamourous = Naitanui, Yarren, Banfield, even Pearce on bigfooty.

Not glamourous = Armfield, Garlett, Wolfenden...'Mature aged' guys who a lot of people don't/didn't consider because they missed a draft or 2.

Also his mullet is disgusting.

Anyway more to the point I'd prefer Ben Howlett as a mature aged rookie. Extremely hard worker with better disposal than Wolfy.

Lol.

Howlett is vanilla, just a good average WAFL player.
