Watched Anchorman 2 last night. Jet Airliner by The Steve Miller band played during the closing credits. I don't mind the song, but it is a bit pedestrian. Did a bit of Wikipedia and YouTube following and it turns out that a blind musician called Paul Pena wrote and recorded the song in 1973. Had a dispute with his record label which meant the album wasn't release until 23 years later. The keyboard player from the Steve Miller Band produced his album and played the unreleased version to Steve Miller. They recorded and released Jet Airliner in 1977 which became a hit for them. It's a pity the original wasn't released back in '73 because it shits all over the cover. I've been listening to it and other Paul Pena songs .... Check it out

Against my better judgement, I allowed my family to drag me to Womad yesterday.

As a reward, I got to meet Neneh Cherry. One of the nicest, most genuine people in the music industry I have met.

And I hope to look that good & perform that well when I turn 51.

KISS-Destroyer. Vinyl played on my fairly recently acquired Project Carbon Debut Turntable. Much better audio quality than this MP3 crap that "music fans" seem to be into these days. Love it!!

Excellent. There is something wonderful about vinyl that can't be recreated any other way.

Absolutely. And I have heard a million times before that vinyl is coming back, but this time it is actually true. Vinyls are being sold at JB Hi-Fi, a couple of independent record stores popping up again, and the vinyl re-issues are top notch. Unlike cheap, crap, lifeless MP3, listening to a vinyl is much more of an "experience". (Big) artwork, a physical copy, liner notes, sound quality, etc

I love album artwork. Massively underrated is that marriage of music & art.
