slowly working my way through warhammer 40k: rogue trader
definitely recommend if you like crpg's or turn based games. a lot of content. think i'm at the end of act 2 of 4. im about 60 hours in though i think the last 2 acts go a lot quicker.

It's on my wishlist but unsure if I should buy.

I like Bioware RPGs, Deus Ex, Cyberpunk etc. Unsure if this would suit me but at the same time I love the 40k universe (to the extent I have read the entire Horus Heresy series including the Siege of Terra) 🤷‍♂️

hey mate, it's nothing like the games you listed haha

closest game to it would imo be wasteland 3, altough i played that years ago so memory might not be correct. much slower type game than the ones you listed. out of combat its a very typical crpg.
combat is turn based on a grid though, kind of x-com ish.
would redommend watching a quick video on youtube to see what i mean before buying.

not very hard, but you can turn up the diffuculty.

the game itself is very wordy, there a lot of reading. but if you enjoyed the horus heresy books i think you would be right at home.
i have never played the tabletop game but i've read the first 10 HH books, 40k is a bit different - HH is more grounded if that makes sense. 40k a lot more fantasy-like. theres a lot of lore.

if you want a good 40k game thats action based - go with Space Marine 2

Have you ever played the xcom games? If so, how would you say 40k compares?
combat is similar to x-com 2 in that its grid based, theres cover, theres shot making percentages. but its not as deep and combat is a much smaller portion of the game.
story/exploration much more like wasteland 3, or other crpgs

no where near as difficult as x-com

Yeah, I haven't played the tabletop game either, but I do love the lore, got some 40k books too but not many. Love Dawn of War. Still have my old copy of the Space Crusade boardgame too 😊

Saying it's easy is a point in its favour given its different to the usual RPGs I play 😎

Will hold off for now. Thanks!

Hell Is Us. Combat gets a bad review but I don't mind it. Sure the enemies are repetitious but I find it's responsive enough. The game is more about the world though and it's actually pretty satisfying working things out and sometimes you just need to move on and let a puzzle go because maybe you'll find the solution later in the game. Or maybe it something obvious that you missed and now some characters are going to die.

First day of the year so all counters should reset, thus it's time to peddle some stats and rack up another huge amount of hours of games played at the next end of year stats collections

I've just used the public holiday to play some Rocket League on PC and Xbox.

Finished off the final objectives in the showcase for WWE 2K25 on pc as well

Just shy of 10 hours with it now and it's actually really good. I really recommend it unless you're a person who gives into looking up a guide if anything takes you longer than 2 minutes to work out.

Only a few days left in the Steam sale, and I have over $100 in credit, and not sure what to get. Was holding off until the end of the Epic freebies (Total War: Three Kingdoms to finish it off, not bad at all!)

Got a $30 gift card for Christmas that I used on Age of Empires 4: Ultimate Bundle (base game plus all expansions except the most recent one). No regrets, loving it so far.

Any suggestions? Love RTS (Age of Empires 2 and Dawn of War my two all-time favourites), FPS (Doom, Quake, the Far Cry series probably my all-time favourites) and RPGs (Bioware RPGs, plus first person stuff like Deus Ex and Cyberpunk).

Have been eyeing off Clair Obscur Expedition 33 purely because of all the awards it's won, but it's not a genre (JRPG) I have a heap of experience with (last one I got into was Lost Odyssey on the Xbox 360, and even then I never finished it despite enjoying it).

I might just end up picking up DLC to games I already own if I can't think of anything. There's a few AoE2 ones I don't yet own, and of course the most recent AoE4 one.

Will save this post if it ends up deleted in the Great Bigfooty Upgrade of 2026.

Got Ghost of Tsushima and GoW:Ragnarok myself. I have thought about Expedition 33 but like you JRPG is not a genre I have a lot of experience with and what experience I do have I am not particularly a fan of it.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. I'm early into it but this is shaping up as an absolute classic.

My Steam purchases have mostly just been my usual "have game on Xbox/Playstation.... will buy it on pc now as well" fare lol and the game in question was Ace Combat 7. Did pick up a few smaller games eg: Super Video Golf - reminds me a lot of the older console golf games.

Might get that next sale. It was sitting in my cart for a bit, but it made way for different choices (Cronos, Uncharted collection, Dying Light: The Beast)

Eriksholm - Really enjoying this. Very high quality AA game. Simple slow paced story driven stealth game that has graphically superb cut scenes, gameplay looks great graphically overall, fantastic voice acting, and runs very well. Has a very tilt shift photography type look to it. Think it's a bit on the short end as it apparently takes 10 or so hours to finish, but happy to have bought this

I loved Dying Light The Beast and Cronos The New Dawn.

Cronos is like Dead Space on earth, specifically in the town of Silent Hill.

Yeah I really like the Dead Space games so it definitely swayed me to go with Cronos. Look forward to it. Really loved DL 1&2 so was probably always gonna grab The Beast!
