I apologise if this has been done before, but I don't come here too often.

Just wondering what background all you guys are.

For the record, my background is mainly English with some Welsh (pretty boring huh?!?)

What about all you guys?

I currently have the inside of a computer lab as a background, with some vertical blinds.

It changes when I move though.

But seriously folks, my dad is Southern Italian and mum is Serbian, although has been "Italianified" by Dad's family.

Sbagman.

5 generations Australian mate!

So I consider myself very much an Aussie, but Mum's ancestors are from Ireland, and Dad's were from the Swiss-Italian border and Ireland.

I think they came out during the gold rush of the 1850's.

New Zealander here

English parents, Mother from Wolverhampton in the West Midlands and Father from Great Yarmouth in East Anglia.

Also have an English brother and sister, and two brothers born in Zimbabwe (or Southern Rhodesia as it was known then)

Lived in Adelaide for 13 years and married to an Adelaide girl, so I guess I'm kinda honourary Croweater as well.

cheers

Dads side - Italian, Mums side - Italian and I hold 2 passports -

I guess that makes me a wog! :D

Dad is South Australian (the one I hate admitting), but I am an Aussie as far back as I know. At least 5 or 6 generations back...

I think way way back I have a mix of English, Scottish, Irish, Welsh, German, French, and god knows what else, but that is back to when Australia was still a penal colony

The Hitman

Anglo Celtic!

The original spelling of my surname was O'Eochaidh. It is probably a little shorter and easier to spell now!

I am about 5th Generation Australian now and most of the ancestors came from Ireland, though a couple of Poms slipped in as well!

My maternal great grandmother was Italian and I grew up in Clayton which must make me an honourary wog! :D

Kannst du Deutsch Darky?

On my Mum's side I am mostly Irish with some English and Welsh, and on my Dad's side I am again mostly Irish with some English and Scottish. I've been told that there may be some Spanish in me too, which can be seen in my dark hair and eyes, but I'm not too sure about this.

I think the Irish ancestors came out because of the Potato famine (a big thankyou to my English ancestors there!:D )

Good topic this.

A typical American melting pot :

father's side :
Irish - came to US in 1850s (my full name is VERY Irish)
Bohemian - came to US in 1880s
French - just a bit

mother's side :
German - came to US in 1880s ( Grandmother born in Bavaria)
Austrian - came to US in 1870s/1880s ( Grandfather born in Austria)

My mother's parents spoke fluent German, Polish and English which they learned after arriving in America. They spoke only English at home except when my Grandmother got mad at my Grandfather! Then it became a German/Polish mixture! As New Americans they wanted their children to fit into a new society and believed that English was the key.

My father's parents were both American born. The only thing Irish about us now is our name and celebrating St Patrick's Day - a MUST in Chicago! My father's mother prayed in Bohemian every night. Our current home is located in the same Chicago suburb that my great grandmother used to visit at the turn of the last century to support Benedictine monks from Bohemia. It used to take them hours to get here by horse and buggy. The same trip STILL takes hours due to traffic!

I guess MY background is American/Australian after spending half my life in Australia.

I'm a Great Aussie Bloke and proud. Knowing my family, I wouldn't be surprised if we were sent out here for knockin' off something 200 years ago or so...

My dad reckons we are Irish, but the only trace I can find of our surname is in Scotland. So basically, I have no idea what my heritage is except for the fact that I was born here and so were my parents and grandparents and great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents etc..... so I guess I am an Aussie....

I'm a 5th generation Australian

But I've got a bit of a mixture to me!

Most (nearly all) of my ancestry, from what I know, is traced to the British Isles. I've got mainly Scottish, English and Irish ancestry with a bit of Cornish (Celtic people from Cornwall, England), Jewish ancestry from London, and Aboriginal (most probably Wiradjuri, from central west New South Wales, as far as i know) ancestry.

umm... My mums parents are both Irish, and my dads mum is Swedish, his mum's Swiss.... so yeah figure that out. lol
