Obviously not good enough at this stage.

There's no way the club would play Petterd ahead of Dea if they thought he could do a job as well.

Exactly right, and Dimma is a fan of Dea (he's the one who said he expected Dea to push for 22 senior games in 2012 IIRC).

If he was the right man for the job he'd be in.

Have always rated Dea and had a soft spot for him (went to my high school).

Great competitor and a good build/body size for a medium defender. His skills were generally improving with more games and this year has been consistent and one of the best at Coburg I believe.

Petterd has a lot of natural talent - maybe the coaches think he can get back to his best with a nice run in the side. Would still like to see Dea get some games this year though.

Reckon he could even play midfield at some point too due to his good lateral movement.

yeah i want to see him in the side for Pettard, however Pettard is a pretty good defender, his leap, spoiling and timing is very good and he can rebound despite his horrible kicking action. Good depth player but best 22 im not sure, same goes for Dea

yeah, I hear ya, listen I dont mind Petterd, but I reckon Dea offers something, reminds me when i was playing golf with a mate last summer and he said the problem with recruiting these second rate types is they end up being played ahead of emerging kids, when reality is they should be depth options.

go the other way on this one BJ...we all know that Dea is developing and the introduction of Pettard allows us to keep in the 2s to develop and learn. The one thing we havent been able to do over the stretch is keep these kids wrapped up in the 2s until they are ready with full weaponry to impact games. Dea has potential, we can see that, what he can do now is learn without the pressure of playing in the 1s. Tipping whatever is going on with him and a few others has next year and beyond as the reasons. Ricky aint that bad, he offers a hard developed body and an experienced head and hunger. Lets not be to impatient, it has cost us for to long and burnt our kids out before.

same as A.Edwards i reckon, keep doing as he's doing and eventually he'll get in

I imagine the only way a.edwards will be coming in jacky boy goes does down with an injury. If ty goes down with injury, orren surely has to come in (tho iirc we played 1 or 2 games with him rucking with no backup)

Continue to bang on the door and then when given his chance grab it with both hands. Remember he had only played 3 games when drafted and has had a very interrupted couple of years. Plenty of time on his side.
