Many years ago myself and some mates ran a fantasy footy comp and i had a player from Carlton ......... Phillips ( i think) Rover/ onballer back in the days when Gleeson and Mitchell were playing, anyway was just wondering what happened to him?

I'm thinking that your probably talking about Andrew Phillips. Left footed rover who was very handy for us.

Cheers mate, sounds right, recall him having a couple of huge games getting injured and then not hearing much from him.

I remember seeing him play for Carlton under 19's. He was so small compared to everyone else.

Why was under 19's comp disbanden? Was it just given the flick with the reserves cause it would be to hard to run or what, I would have thought that it would be a very usefull comp for many players who dont develope untill later.

Andrew Phillips was recruited from Melbourne High School. Had a very promising career with the Blues before being struck down by injury. From memory he had to choose between playing tennis or football as he was a champion junior tennis player. I think there was even a story going around at the time he first started at the Blues that he had beaten Boris Becker in a junior tennis tournament.
