All week the Doggies have been pumped up with their win over the Eagles. Fair enough, it happens with the media, it's great to see the Doggies up and about, it's also good for the competition. They'll be coming out to make a statement against us and they're full of confidence, but here's the kicker; I want the club to be ready. How about instead of them making the statement, how about Richmond do it? How about we come out there and be absolutely ruthless, do something we don't normally do against any team and completely bury the Dogs. I would love to see that, all week it's been about the Dogs and their victory, we never really get talked about and the media always seems to avoid the Tigers when they win, because well, we hardly ever comprehensively beat a team. But imagine how great it would be if went out there saturday afternoon and just killed them, because I can guarantee if we did we would start being noticed by these so called footy "experts".

I don't get the hype. If West Coast were a Melbourne based club they would be in close competition for the spoon this year. Their home field advantage offers them a chance at a couple extra wins to keep them off the bottom. Not only that but they had injuries and players coming off long injuries. In other words they were ripe for the picking at Etihad.

If probably get the hype if they beat us as we have played finals the last 2 years but beating a team that played finals in 2012 counts for shit!

We should smash these guys and smashing them and beating Carlton by 27 points isn't really a statement. Both are bottom 8 teams.

This weekend is a % booster as is next Saturday and the Saturday after .

Yes, belting Bulldogs (and Brisbane and Melbourne), would make people rate us, but I think that it has to be in conjunction with defeating a team comfortably that is considered as "good".

If you belt bottom teams and fail to defeat any of the top teams, people will view you as "flat track bullies" (like West Coast and to a lesser extent Adelaide). That is not a very prestigious title to be holding.

Neither is being capable of beating a top tier team, but wilting against a bottom team a prestigious status to be holding (like what North Melbourne, Richmond and Essendon do). People will view you as inconsistent.

What the club needs to do in order to be rated is to have comfortable wins against Bulldogs, Brisbane and Melbourne in Rounds 2, 3 & 4 respectively with at least one smashing AND back it up with defeating* Geelong, North Melbourne and Collingwood in Rounds 5, 6 & 7 respectively with at least one comfortable win from those three games (smashing would be nice, but not required), followed by being competitive against Port Adelaide in Round 8 in Adelaide Oval (even if it is a loss).

Now THAT would be making a real statement that would make the so-called footy "experts" and the rest of the footy community rate us.

*losing to one of those teams is alright, but as long as it is a competitive loss

Who gives a crap what these people think, Richmond could win 5 flags in a row and these flogs would still not rate us, after all the crap we supporters have had to put up with, are we really that insecure that we need people telling us Richmond are a good side, I say stuff them and if Richmond winning makes the media and the footy community pissed off stiff shit, it makes the wins all the more sweeter.
During our 9 game run last year the media were hanging for us to lose so they could drive the nail into the coffin, they might have acted all happy on the outside but on the inside it was eating them up. Just listen to the radio after a Richmond win, they pick out the mistakes that could have cost us the match and harp on them more than the things that won Richmond the game.

Lol, I agree. I really do not think we should spend our energy pleasing them. I have noticed how cold-shouldered many of them have become ever since Richmond started looking like a team able to sustain success.

The look on their faces though if we have a really good start to the season would be pretty funny.

A statement isn't only to please them but. It is a warning to not mess with the yellow and black ;)

don't exactly get the hype either. the "Footy show" if you can call it that anymore, was way over the top/basically a Bulldogs Membership drive.
facts are they only just beat our 2nds around a month ago and only just beat a side last week that has a decimated backline.
