It is about my xbox 360. I got it a month ago and I think its having problems. My brother came over and said its making heaps of noise compared to his one. When I am playing GTA4 it has be freezing a few times. Should I trade it in and request for a new one?

My brother's was freezing during GTA when it first came out. He just called Microsoft, sent it away they fixed it and it was back in about 10 days. Been fine since then.

If the store will exchange it, take it back.

If not, and if its just a bit noisy, i'd keep playing it until it got a bit worse. The freezing isn't a good sign.

Get it fixed while its in warranty

What model did you get? Arcade? Elite? Pro? (just curious) And where did you get it from?

There should be a 90 day instore warranty, so if you're not happy with it, take it back to the store and exchange it.

Have you installed NXE? i.e. are you connected to Live? Have you tried installing the game onto the HDD?

New Xbox Experience. Do you have an avatar?

If so, you have NXE

This means you can install games onto your HDD

Put a game in, go to the where you launch the game, press Y and you get the option to install the game directly on to HDD

This might fix your freezing issue

yep got the avatar.

so installing into onto my HDD (what does that stand for?) does that mean i dont have to keep changing discs when I play games? and possibly help my freezing issue.

You'll still have to put the disc in the tray (to verify you own a legit copy of the game) but the files will stream from the HDD rather than the disc itself, this puts less strain on the disc drive, allows the console to run cooler and if the problem lies in your disc drive than this should solve it, because you won't be using it.

Note: HDD stands for Hard Disk Drive. You have 120GB so should be able to instal quite a few games.

has anyone modded or got a chip so they dont have to put CD's in.

No, because that's a big middle finger to developers who put time and effort into their games.

I hate piracy and will always buy the original thing, be it CD, DVD, Blu-Ray, Games etc.

I'm with you on that one.

Btw, when you playing the games, can you just click play on the main menu or do you have to click Y (game details) and go play from hard drive?

You know what, I have no idea

I've got about 15 - 20 installed and always press Y

Never tried just to launch it from the main menu

EDIT: Launching it from the icon will play it from HDD
