What was the reason for the Reds scoring 2.2.14?

the ground was literally a bath of mud, an absolute disgrace. the game in no way resembled australian rules football. an umpire with any balls would have abandoned the game

I concur completely. You have wet days, you have muddy days, but what we had to endure on Saturday was a bloody disgrace. Last time we met, at Punt Road on a damp, but okay day, the Seniors and Reserves won by 67 and 98 points respectively. Only a ground like this would make the results turn around so dramatically.
Get one of the Amateur officials to go and have a look at the state of it this week I say.

Yep, know exactly what you mean. I was coaching on the bottom oval, which was only slightly better than the top - you could see about 10 blades of grass by the end of the match. Felt for your seniors, having to play Aquinas on a ground like that, after a match had already been played, and on a fairly big day for their club (an Aquinas bloke played his 300th)
