Ok while it was pretty obvious that we were comprehensively smashed today I'm just interested to know where everyone thought we failed.

IMO most if not all of our problems stemmed from the ruck and midfield. We were absolutely destroyed out of the middle and around the stoppages today. Fraser and Richards struggled big time in the ruck and the likes of West, Cooney and Ray dominated the clearances.

Even when we were trying to run the ball the pressure put on by the Dogs was too much and we were either caught in possesion or forced to kick wide. It was this sheer dominance of the middle of the ground that caused the backs and forwards to struggle.

With the exception of Tarrant who presented all day, the forwards were very average. But as I mentioned, a lot of these problems were due to the Dogs midfield dominance. Rusling needs the ball delivered out in front of him and today that rarely happened. Rocca was a worry. He was consistently beaten by Grant and his lack of mobility was really shown up.

As with most other areas, our usually resolute backline was beaten soundly. Montgomery carved both Lonie and Maxwell to pieces. Clement had his hands full with Robbins and was probably beaten and Presti was consistently beaten on the lead by Johnson and co. Again most of these was the result of the Dogs getting first use of the ball and great delivery into the forward line.

This is how the players can be ranked IMO

Can hold head up high (good game)
Tarrant
Johnson
R. Shaw

Can just hold head up (average)
Buckley
Burns
Clement
Egan
Fraser
Lockyer
Thomas
O'Bree

Hang head in shame (poor)
Didak
Holland
Licuria
Lonie
Maxwell
Presti
Richards
Rocca
Rusling
H. Shaw
Swan

As I said only my opinion but looking at that it's a pretty sad sight.:(

6 goals to 2 i think with about 2 minutes to go before Quarter time. Everything looked good. I just do not know what happened after that. Every kick to the dogs were to players out in the middle of a paddock with not a pie anywere. I was behind the goals and could not believe my eyes when Bucks kicked across goal and stuffed up big time and almost cost us a goal. We seemed to be hitting the post every second shot at goal. Every time we tried to get the ball the pressure and 4 or 5 dogs around us was unbelievable yet they were on there own when they took the ball away. I just could not believe what i was seeing.

Yeah we were just smashed all over the ground. The Dogs pressure was just too much.

After 1/2 time when we were only 10 points down I thought, OK we need the first one and then we should be right from there. Two minutes later and the Dogs had slammed on 2 goals and we were in a world of hurt.:thumbsd:

game plan, i hoped and hoped that MM would tell the pies to flood the backline a bit, or even man up tightly, or even kick the ball long, we need a new coach, as much as i respect MM we won't win a flag while his the coach

You reccon thats bad. I was still saying to my mates who wanted to leve at 3 quarter time today that we kicked 10 goals in the last quarter last week so we were still a chance. We left 15 minutes into the last quarter.

I agree 100%,, and I'm sure Nathan Buckley feels he has let the side down,, but we have to be fair,,the bull dogs played the best game I have seen them play all year,, they marked ,,kicked,,and goaled to perfection,,and collingwood had no chance against a team that is backed by the Chinese year of the dog,, collingwood went in confident,, started with intent to win,, no player out there on sunday went in to lose,, they gave all that they could give,,and that is all that they can give,,we do expect to much from our players,, yes i'm dissapointed,,but most of all I feel disappointed for them,,
