you're saying that the 1970's are more unforgettable then 1770????That is true. I was exaggerating a little.
But if you think about it, the 60's, 70's & 80's of our time is so rich in history & technological advances that it would be almost impossible to forget, no matter how far you are in the future. Honestly... the world population in the 1880's must have been significantly lower back then, and the amount of media coverage & cultural knowledge must have been quite isolated back then as well.
Whereas now, TV, music, radio, not to mention the internet will most likely cement this knowledge into our society for a long time to come. And I wasn't just talking about someone referring back to their "memories" per-say, but more-so a well known event.
Pretty soon we'll be surpassing the 2030's/2040's - who's to say Hitler or WWI/WII will be forgotten/ignored decades after this?
It just seems as if the 20th century (1900's) has been, and probably will be the most memorable & eventful century ever. Mainly thanks to the population, broad range of knowledge & boost in never-before-seen technology.

Were Australians, well think of some abbreviation wont we, we have to!I think we will skip a decade of abbreviation and just call everything twenty-ten, twenty-eleven. It will be most likely 2021 before we revert back to calling it '21, '22, etc. It could be possible though that the year 2020 could be just the year '20 but I doubt anything from the next decade will be abbreviated.
