I don't think Judd will leave West Coast but if he decided to return to Victoria and chose us as his preferred team, we should have in the salary cap with Taz gone, what we would offer for trade?

Definitely our 1st choice in the ND would be required by West Coast.

1st round pick and what else? I think 2 players and 1 of those an emerging player.

Leon Davis and Brad Dick. Both WA boys and Leon has a good record against the Eagles and their small forward appears to be Armstrong at the moment. Possibly our 2nd round pick as well but that is risky on our part.

Or maybe Ryan Lonie, instead of 1 of the above 2, who would be very good as a wingman in that line-up.

I would not like to trade any of these 3 players but if we want Judd we are going to have to cough up some talent.

Opinions???
 
A newspaper article did this exercise for each club and for us it was:

1st round draft pick, Didak and Rusling
 
The cost could be too much, everyone knows to fit judd in it could rip their heart out. Would have to be someone very good on our list, a early first round pick and about 800,000-1000000. They might want Nath Brown, leon and a 1st rounder. That might be the only way and it could happen :thumbsu:

As for above we would never trade didak, we would do rusling without hesitation for a judd like trade, swap rusling for Leon. So N.Brown, Rusling 1st rounder and a massive hit to our salary cap.
 
WC wouldnt take our 1st pick + Leon + Dick + Lonie let alone 1 or 2 of them.

Your talking about the best player in the league. That means Didak, Fraser, Johnson, Pendles, Thomas, Reid, Brown and anyone else they want. You have to involve your best players/talent for the best player in the league.

Not if he wants to leave. I think N.Brown considering they have his twin bro and he ripped it up for them and they rate him highly, rusling and our 1st rounder would cover it. We just wont trade if players like pendles, thomas, fraser, didak, johson. We would walk away, which is what i think we will do anyway.

He is at his peak and by the time he gets to another club,his injuries ie,shoulder,groin will start reocurring.It doesn't make sense to me to trade young players for someone who has already achieved his dream in footy.Besides there is every chance that he will get injuries down the track.Imagine giving away say first round pick,didak,rusling....What a re we doing giving wet toast another premiership .Are you people crazy ????
Judd here is a million a year to play for collingwood,otherwise stay at wet toast,and we will continue on our merry way gathering a good team of youngsters and we'll win a flag without Judd's help.Besides it was Cousins that played well in last year's premiership side not judd.
 
i will personally help out at his home and make sure his missus is well looked after, fed, shopped for, groomed, pampered etc, so Chris can concerntrate purely on footy, and whats best it wont affect the salary cap cos i'll do it free of charge.

It's unlikely that they will accept our first round draft pick anyway. Why would they want pick 16 when they will already have pick 15? ;)

I would suggest at the end of this year that they (egales) will be right up against the salary cap and would take a player like N Brown and first round draft pick. That is if they have a cap at all over there......

If they cleared Didak - that is it for me I am gone - will follow suburban footy.

Judd is good/great but of himself would not deliver us a flag.

I think a great player like Dids plus Pendles, Thomas etc can be part of a good team. We need to make it better by landing a ruckman. For this reason I would tend to steer clear of a Judd and see if we can hook Charman or Leunberger from the Brions.

***** OFF!!!!! No chance MM would get rid of those guys, they are are future in the forward line. Judd may be superstar but i doubt he is worth rus, dids and high pick. That is idiocy and the coaches would regret it!!!

GREAT RESPONSE!! Why the hell would we give up didak, that would be the worst move ever (even worse than giving bris mal michael for jarrod molloy)! Secondly we should seriously focus on recruiting a gun ruckman to support josh or even take over as the no. 1 ruckman. Of course there is Charman but we could look at Laycock, Paul Johnson, Macintosh, Max Bailey, Robert Cambell. I think charman or campbell should be our main focus, hawks already have taylor and max bailey, maybe we could give up a first round pick or egan for campbell. He will a gun ruck, mark my words. Does anyone agree??
 
If Judd said he wants to leave WC, as much as a "Champion/Superstar" Judd is I will not give away half the team for him. It will put us back indefinately.

By no means should any player be worth a million a year. What if he did a knee? Remember, Kouta was on a million a year, and then he did his knee. That compounded the crisis at Carlton when they had salary cap issues/draft penalties, and destroyed them indefinately.

And by no means should we trade any off our young stars (i.e; Didak, Thomas, Pendelbury, H Shaw, N Brown, B Reid, B Dick, D Swan, J Fraser). I would only take Judd if he declares he wants to play in the black and white.

However, after years of being RIPPED off on the trading table and if Judd said he would only return to Victoria if he could play for Collingwood. I would say to WC, we offer you our 2nd or 3rd round pick and that is all!! Time we ripped somebody off!!

Having met the great man, I would seriously doubt Judd would leave WC. Its just a story in the press as there is not much going on in the world of footy. He is not the type of person who would leave for money. He is a really quiet/humble human being and would not turn his back on his teammates (especially when he is the captain).
 
The only way Judd would consider leaving the Eagles is if they didn't clean up their drug act.Otherwise,he will remain an Eagle.If for some reason he wanted to leave which i doubt,no trading any players,just pay him his million and Eddie can give his misus a job at channel 9.She can take over from livinia as the weather girl.That would be it.Because we are building a great young team,we don't really need judd.
If he wanted to play for the pies (and if his misus was offered a job here at nine ,believe me she would help him make up his mind if he wanted to leave),he would only be a bonus if the exchange was money and at best give the eagles our 2nd round pick nothing more.Forget giving away players like leon,dids,rusling.Too much to give away for 1 player.What if he got a serious injury ? Donot give other clubs an advantage for nothing.
Our best bet if that was the case is for Judd to go into the draft and then negotiate with his manager,forget dealing with west coast,cause they would want players,and we will not give up young players,we are defeating the purpose of building our club.Also i cannot see judd going to a lowly team.Why would he leave the top side and go to a low side? A side like collingwood has the cash will be apremiership contender in 2 years,and his misus would be happy working for channel 9.Win-win situation.That's the best scenario if he wanted to come home,and play for collingwood,otherwise stiff cheddar juddy.

Peak?? He is 23. He wont reach his peck for 3 more years.

Also what groin injury are you talking about?? He has missed about 4 games of footy due to a hamstring.

Do you actually know who Chris Judd is??
 
Judd will be out of contract so he could just go into the pre-saon draft if he wants to. From what we know of Judd that would be unlikely, but the possibility is there. So, the eagles are in the end going to have to accept someones offer. It will all depend on which club gives the most. Collingwood arn't going to be stupid and give up an abundance of players just for Judd. West Coast though may have to accept a 'lesser' offer to Judd's value in the end if they want to get at least something for him. Having said all this he'll probably stay anyway. Only time will tell.

Kangaroos, who say they have plenty off cap space and $$$ to offer are most likely to win the spoon so they are in the best position when it comes to the Pre-season draft.

I dont think Brisbane has much of a say in the matter.
Charman's contract runs out this summer.
Brisbane has about 25 star ruckmen on their list, NOT INCLUDING HIM, so Im sure he would be telling them to accept what they can for him instead of seeing him go in the pre-season for free, wouldnt you agree?

** By the way, I said Egan for Charman, not Egan + a pick.
