I think this is a very interesting question seeing as Corey is from Port origins. IMHO he's a gun player and young at that so Geelong wouldn't let him go cheaply but I was interested in a few Port supporters opinions on what they would give up for Corey, especially taking into account Geelong are short of big men.

I don't think we would be able to give up the sort of big man that Geelong would want in return for Enright, we would probably be limited to the likes of Morgan or Ackland. As for other types of players I'm sure the names Stevens and Guerra would come up, although I wouldn't like to lose them if we could get Didak and Enright for them it wouldn't be all bad :)

I'm pretty sure Nick Stevens will sign a new contract soon however.

He certainly is a good player who would be welcome at the club but I don't see too many of our big men being up for grabs besides Lade, Morgan and possibly Ackland.

As you've seen plenty of Morgan I'm sure you could put in a good word for him at Geelong and we'd have a deal.........;)

As much as I love Morgs as a player (even chatted to him for a while last Fri night) I don't think he'd be traded for someone in Corey's class.
I was thinking of a more interesting hypothetical situation such as if Geelong offered Corey for Matthew Primus. As I said, purely hypothetical (especially seeing as Corey has at least 10 years of AFL footy in him and Primus has injury concerns) but an interesting prospect none the less as the Primus is Reg Hickey's Grandson and the Cats are a ruckman short of being a top 8 side.
Or perhaps Lade or Brogan with one other involved in a trade?
Dont get me wrong as a Cats fan I'd hate to see Enright ever leave us but I just think its an interesting topic of discussion seeing as he's originally from Port.

Primus and Brogan are no chance.......

Lade and Morgan would be a possibility but I somehow doubt Geelong would be interested in that unless either/both start showing some form in the AFL and then I doubt Port would trade them.

Good big players are hard to find and clubs will stick with promising players that fit that mould like Port have done with Thurstans and Morgan. Thurstans looks like he has stepped up to the mark and if Morgan will need to do the same thing to remain on the list in 2004. Do you know when his contract is up?

Morgan's other concern is younger players in the squad coming through like Damon White (19), Stephen Gilham (18) & Wade Champion (19) although at 22 he still is a chance to remain if he can get a spot and show some form this year.

If talls are what Geelong are after, the only way I could see Enright at Port is in a three-way.

I think you may have forgotten about a guy called Steven King...

You misinterpreted me, I think King's awesome, but I think in this day and age a team needs 2 ruckmen, hence my comment about us being 1 ruckman short. As great as Kingy is anyone would struggle rucking all day long against 2 ruckmen, ie Biglands, Marsh and Clarke or Primus and Brogan, or White and Jolly, etc, etc.

Could of had French for him last year.

Port really dont have a surplus of quality talls now. Primus, Brogan and now thrust would be pretty much untradable as well as obviously Tredders & Cornes.

Morgan would be tradeable but as someone has already mentioned Geelong wouldn't accept him unless he shows some form late in the year and then we wouldn't trade him. Lade would be in the same boat. Ackland, well his trade value would be pretty low and the other young talls would be in the same boat.

Bishop perhaps, even Wakelin but again Geelong would probably look at their age and think no thankyou even though they are handy players. Pax would also be far too old to look at trading.

Realistically a third team or draft picks would be the order of the day if talls were an issue at Geelong and we wanted Enright. For what it's worth i'd look favourably at getting him, especially with Francou getting on a bit.

Okay fair enough, but I can't understand why you'd want to trade one of your gun midfielders for Primus, who would probably only be the second ruckman at Geelong. Besides, Primus and King are very similar players - both use their strength to win the hitouts and are not as athletic as some of the other ruckmen such as White, Darcy, Simmonds etc. I think you'd be better off going more a more athletic, leaping ruckman as a backup to King rather than another similar ruckman to King in order to increase the variety and versatility of your ruck division.

I wouldn't, I think Enright is an absolute gun, it was just a hypothetical question to Port fans.

I was just wondering if Enright wanted to go home and Geelong still needed "more" ruckmen what sort of hypothetical trade people would be willing to do.

And who says Port are brimming with them? At the moment we have Primus and Brogan in form although the AFL are doing their best to quash Primus(maybe we should have an anti-AFL banner like Collingwood). After that we have Lade and Ackland, both out of form and returning from injury. Thurstans and Bishop are better-than-nothing choices.

A trade of a similar size player would be more likely.
