You wouldn't be saying that if you saw what I saw today! Young Bryce you are a star! 6 goals, 35 possies, 10 marks as the bays roll Port! It makes me sick to think that such a star and top bloke will be more than likely playing with Carlton for the future so I agree with your last point. :(

Good point- we need players in the engine room who can keep up the pressure in the middle, and make it easier for the backs. Draft the best middies available this year, promote Knights the reserves coach , and give Sheeds a pension.

And why would Knights be any better than Sheeds.

Knights' record isnt anything flash either, so suggesting we promote him to senior coach doesnt warrant anything.

The more players out of the senior team, the less Knights has to choose from. In a perfect world I think that players not ready for AFl such as Ryder and Dempsey would have played full seasons at bendigo.

I was suggesting a promotion to the senior caoching ranks to develop the middies which was his specialty- the other contenders for Sheedys job are numerous. Sheedy and Pagan are definitely pensionable imo.

Knights has already been promoted to a full time position on the Essendon coaching staff.

Maybe he could be promoted to a senior assistant coach ?

if i was a bombers fan i'd take the short term pain of finishing bottom for the long term gain of getting Bryce Gibbs

tell me another 17yo who can get: 36 possesions, 11 marks and 6.1 goals !!!!! all that in the SANFL, fair effort for a 17yo still at high school

A few weeks ago, you were calling for a full time development coach.

Now that's been done you're asking for more.
Knights is a full time senior assistant coach at Essendon Football Club. He'll work full time at the club and will be on hand on game days excluding those that clash with Bendigo.

Gary O'Donnell is our midfield coach. You've been calling for him to coach the club, now you want him replaced by Knights?

Or you could say our depth isnt up to scratch right now ;)

There is only a limit to the players you can have on your list mate. So say 5 players who are in our 22 are injured that means 5 AFL listed Bendigo players will play which means 5 players from Bendigo's reserves have to be called up.

And how many of our regular 22 have had long term injuries? Been out for a lengthy period of time? Lloyd, Hirdy and Rama are the 3 that come to mind.

Winderlich and Laycock have now both missed a third of the season. Plus Rioli, and Campo missed 7 weeks.

But if we are talking purely Bendigo, having Henneman all year would have been incredibly handy. Likewise McKinnon, given the shortage of tall players at Bendigo.

Cole missed a lot of footy, Dempsey has missed his share, Hocking, Johns likewise. All would have made a significant impact to Bendigo, especially given they, like Essendon have had a lot of close losses.

Bendigo have suffered like Essendon, from blokes having limited preseasons. Doering, Beasy, Blumfield, like JJ, McPhee etc have battled injury throughout the preseason and season proper.

I don't think Knights should be our next senior coach, but he is doing a good job with what he has to work with and I think he'll be a valuable asset as a full time development coach.

Thats pretty much my argument, although going off on a tangent of sorts in regards to Bendigo's list. Werribee have also had to deal with the injuries the Dogs have incurred...guess its just a matter of what positions Bendigo have had to fill when they lose a regular to our senior Essendon side.
Speaking of coaches...think there might be a bit of a spring cleaning going on down Carlton/Bullants way. Few names will surely be bandied around....Mitchell, Libba...Pagan..

Werribee have the bonus of having some very good VFL listed players.

Essendon players pretty much carry Bendigo.

Yeah, have to agree with that...Podsiadly is pretty reliable up forward...can see your theory if Johns was consistently playing for Bendigo.

Agree with you Longy.. Also don't think Knights is ready for a role as senior coach however I wouldn't mind seeing him as an assistant coach at essendon next year and someone else can coach Bendigo.
