or does he even have one in 2005? this is not a troll, and i know its been covered elsewhere, but its an honest question. will collingwood put up with another bottom 4 finish? how much will it depend on the injury list?

i would imagine a fighting 10th with a long injury list will survive mick into 2006, but i dont know, will it? rocca, woey, bucks, burns, clement et al aint getting any younger, and unless rowe and a couple other really come up things are looking a little grim.

whats going on at the club? does mick have the confidence of the board and the pres? he gets bantered around as being in trouble, but how much is truth and how much is just anti-collingwood trolling?

its becoming clear that a rebuilding period is needed, and collingwood wont be in range of the premiership again before the older generation retire. will mick be given the job of doing that? or will he be gone?

It's pretty simple. He has to:

1) Start winning a heap of games in a convincing manner. If he can do this, there's no reason whyu we shouldn't make the eight. Most people doubt this will occur, although having seen other sides, it's not beyond the realms of possibility.

2) Should he not be able to achieve the first point within the next few weeks with his "mature" line-up, then he must blood youth and sideline anyone who has no future at the Club.

3) Should the second scenario arise, then I think a full football department enema should occur. Mick might just be able to hang onto his job by his fingernails, plus the fact he's contracted until end '06. BUT he must be instructed to rebuild. That means flicking the correct players and drafting and playing youth. Do we really see him as the best person for this job given his history??

I'm worried that despite the thin, slow, mostly talentless list that MM will get the benefit of the doubt at the end of the year due to injuries.

However, there is no point sacking MM at the end of the year unless we can get poach a good replacement. There is no way we will try an untried coach. We have the money for more and Eddie will want somebody high-profile. And it would be hard to get somebody at years end because I think most of the good coaches are under contract.

So we are in limbo, basically.

very smart post ,change for changes sake whould be the worse thing we can do .keep mm till the end of his contract and if things are not on the up by this time next season we should be looking for a long term replacement , someone like brian royal if we are unable to get an experienced coach. if we have to go for someone untried at least get someone with heaps of experience as an assistent.

Big name, successful coaches are really only going to become available if:
-they have a falling out at their existing club
-they perform poorly
-they are chasing more money
-they lose their passion for coaching and are enticed back by a paycheque, not any real desire

Why would you want any coach from the above scenarios?

I think we are better off getting the very best assistant coach we can find, that has served and played under the best coaches, surround them with talented assistants (not MM yes-men) and most importantly recruit from outside Collingwood people who have been involved in successful clubs. Let's face it, ours has been a culture of nearly good enough for 50 years now (1990 notwithstanding) - we need someone to show us how to be great again.

Like Eddie would want to sack MM anyway?

I think MM's gameplan in the past 2 weeks has been very good, we have gone long and direct at times, and it's helping Tarrant out a lot - 9 goals in 2 weeks.

If we continue going Long and direct, we would win/ be competitive in many matches, it's just as simple as that.

Play Tarrant at Full-forward, and switch C2 and C3 (If C3 plays) around - CHF and Ruck (Unless Richards comes back this week, there is no need for doing that).

The facts of this season are:
- We are 1-3
- Two goals away from a 3-1 start.
- We have played 2 very poor games, 1 average game and 1 good game
- We have played Adelaide (travelling well), Kangaroos (undefeated), Western Bulldogs (doing alright), and Carlton (average), which in reality aren't top quality sides but Adelaide and Kangaroos have run in to some form.
- We have a big injury list
- The gameplan is good but only when the team has confidence to kick into forward 50 direct. Our gameplan seems to be going wide and then straightening up when delivering to a forward.

He'll be our coach in 2006, rain hail or shine.

But unless we see something very VERY positive out of the large majority of C Cloke, H Shaw, B Shaw, Morrison, Hall, Rusling, Egan, T Cloke and Iaccobucci (all the 2003 and 2004 draftees) by seasons end, MM's days will be numbered. His future is in these kid's hands.
