This guy is a superstar.

Averaging 24.4 disposals, 9.7 Marks, 0.8 Goals, 2.9 Tackles per game, he willl have to be warming up for the Brownlow wouldn't he?

32 Disposals tonight with a goal as well, he could play on for another 10 years.

Yeah the fact that he was supposed to be past it and is now undoubtably one of the Top 10 players so far this year.

He was sensational AGAIN tonight, BOG for mind. Not only did he have the 32 disposals took a career high marking total of 17/18 marks.
Looks as though he is just really enjoying his footy, is playing with no negative thoughts, great to see Tarks back to his best.

I've never seen him attack so hard, he's in career-best form.

What's stopping him from winning the Brownlow? If he doesn't have a form slump he would be in the top five or six.

What an amazing turnaround.

From what I can see from a quick check, not even on the radar with the bookies boys. Pendlebury and Shaw look like the only 2 that are even in the ball park. What a joke, wonder how much influence media, bookies, etc have on umps decisions? On performance he has to be up there. Might be worth having a punt on Tarks for the Copeland early while there is still a little money to be made. I don't even bet and I'm thinking about it. He is just about a shoe in at the moment.

at the breakfast this morning...though wasnt sure if he was just joking...he said hed been doing a fair bit of training and gettin tips from burnsy how to improve his game a bit...dunno how tru this is?....but yeah been very impressed with him this year glad he is back!

Lets not get too ahead of ourselves. 3 votes last night, easily, went to Simon Black.

And I dont think Tarks can win the Brownlow. As MM said, he is a similiar player to Simon Black, but not of the same calibre. If he had the profile of a Chris Judd, or a Daniel Kerr, or a Simon Black, then he'd definitely be a chance, but he isn't a high profile footballer. And in our games this year, he hasn't been a complete standout, he has dominated but others have contributed very well too so it doesnt show him as being as much a BOG as he would if others didnt offer plenty of input too.

With Kerr and goodes no longer in contention, Judd will get atleast 2 weeks for his little ey gouge (well one would assume, but then again he is protected) so definately Brownlow chance.

The reason that Chris Judd, Daniel Kerr and Simon Black have a profile is because they have won or gone close to winning the Brownlow. If you remember a few years ago it was a surprise that Kerr finished 2nd or 3rd in the Brownlow because no one had paid a lot of attention to him before that.

If he keeps playing the way he has so far for the majority of the season and the Pies keep winning games his profile will rise and he'll start to be mentioned as a Brownlow contender.

There are still a lot of games to be played so that's why he hasn't been mentioned much yet but if he keeps going the way he has watch him shorten at the TAB.

nothing wrong with him he had always been this good. He spent 2.5 years recovering from a knee reco and an ankle injury (i think).
He was one of our best players before he went down injured and after recovering mentally and physically he is one of our best again

You must remember that Kerr, Judd ect. are in their early 20s.
Black has won a Brownlow and a few flags and is only 28 or something.

Lockyer is 26, I believe, and hasn't accomplished anything, so I dont think, when it comes to profile, he can get close to the Judds, Kerrs, Blacks ect.

Agree that he can't get to the level of the three players mentioned above because he is not as dominant a player as those 3 but if he finishes top 5 in the Brownlow this year, his profile will skyrocket.

i think heath, pendles, cloke, jimmy, obrien, burns will take a fair few votes off him. We have a very balanced team, its hard to pick a standout

Exactly my point in regards to the Brownlow this year.

I absolutely LOVE Tarks, and I hope he can go on and play over 250 games for us but I dont think he can continue his form of this year for more then this year. If he can play this way for another 3-4 years until he is 31, he will definitely be looked at in the AFL (repuation-wise/as popular) as the Goodwins, Kirks, Edwards'. Just as an elite midfielder who other teams respect.

The midfielders I named are better then Ben Cousins. He simply has a bigger rep because he won a Brownlow. He looks better because he has Chris Judd, Daniel Kerr, the best midfield in the AFL with him. Put a Simon Goodwin, or a Brett Kirk with Kerr, Judd, Embley ect. and watch them excel.

Tarks has had an amazing start to the season, but he hasn't proven ANYTHING yet as a player, consistency is what gives players a good reputation and a name. Hopefully Tarks can cement that over the next few years by following through on this season's form.

fair point, dal santo hasnt been as good without hayes, ball, ahrvey helping out. Johnson hasnt been as good without lica, and buckley.
But your arguement should work in Tarks' favour because he is dominating and leading from the front when the engine room is bare (no buckley, licca the former stalwarts). I would expect him to get a fair bit of attention in the next few weeks, but i dont expect him to lower his colours to anybody. just like burns he is a class act.
