Ignoring the fact that he and Rowan Andrews got reported for striking each other yesterday, when do we actually bring Perrie back into the side?? Or do we?

Perrie had good form in the absence of Wayne Carey and never really fired a shot in anger when Carey was in the same side, which is why Perrie was banished back to the SANFL.

Carey has since retired, of course, and Stevo is a doubtful commodity from week to week and is injured at present, so it's not as if we have key forwards to burn.

Maybe, just maybe, Perrie can regain some of that old confidence now that he won't live in Carey's shadow.

Alternatively, if Perrie is not considered to be part of our plans for next year, we need to get his name in front of the other 15 teams as an AFL player with hopefully reasonable form to attract a reasonable trade for him at year end.

Is it time to take him off the shelf and dust him down for AFL action??

Perrie thrives when he is the go to man in attack.
When Carey was the primary target, Perries footy smarts wasn't good enough to read the game.

But he is a lot better than he's been playing. Watts needs to be a support player this year, so bringing in Perrie is a better move than trying to use Biglands as a KPP.

Yep, it is time for Perrie to shine. With Carey gone there is a good chance he will play well at CHF. Hopefully Craig remembers this.

At least it keeps him away from goal so he doesn't have to kick any snaps...

I have a feeling if he isn't shunted off to Perth at the end of the year we will keep him, as he is a solid, reliable and occasionally spectacular key forward who is a bit better than a depth player but a bit less than a frontliner.

Ian Perrie????

Please! That's like asking the Dallas Mavericks why they don't consistently play Sean Bradley.

The answer is because he's a chump (Bradley, that is). But Ian Perrie is in the same bucket. He's weak, would you all please get over it.

I'd much rather watch Skipworth get a game over Perrie. No doubt the guy's got much more talent. Perrie is spent.

The way I see it we have two options.

1. We are going to delist himn at the end of the year and as such should get no game time over the next 9 rounds.

2. We are going to trade hime. Therefore we nee to build up his trade value by playing him and making him the goto man.

We must not take the view that he has to prove himself to stay. If we do that then he will stay and I do not believe he should be in the AFC plans for the long term.

Let us build up hius trade value and get a trade!!:D

Perrie must come into the side. Our biggest mistake immediately would be to put all the pressure in our forward line on Watts and burn him out. Perrie for CHF,

I agree with that.

I also think you should be promoting players on form and Ian's form has been very ordinary.

I think the only out we have at the moment is Smart - and on form Torney should replace him. I'm not too keen on Ian at the moment.

Apart from keeping him, trading is the only option.
He has a contract that does not allow us to delist him.

Look he had a very good year last year. He not what I would bank a premiership on, but is a very handy utility.
Yes he's had a very bad year, but his good games last year showed he does have something to offer the AFC.

Without encouraging behind the play incidents, I like the fact Andrews has a bit of mongrel.

Haven't seen him play, by all accounts still very raw. But he has progressed very well this year and is showing all the right signs for the future.:)

If Perrie doesn't get traded we have no other choice that to keep him because he is in the first year of a 2 year deal.

I agree with macca23 and WW. Carey should come in and play CHF but who gets the axe from a winning team??????

I think there is a fair chance we keep Perrie next year especially if Stevens hangs them up at the end of the year as expected. If we trade Perrie we don't have anyone big and strong enough for CHF next year.

Its time to bring Perrie back in the side along with Torney.

He loves the 1%ers and yes he has a bit of a mongrel and a very akward kicking style:p

Look for a raw kid to be 1st ruck at 19 is pretty encouraging.
Anyone know how he went on the weekend?

He hasn't been leading the ruck lately. he has been the back up and getting limited game time. I think he got 6 touches and 2 or 3 marks yeaterday. He was dropped back to reserves a couple of weeks ago but after 1 game was recalled to the senior side. He is a long term project so time will tell whether or not he is any good for AFL footy.

Think Griffiths was an emergency.
He was named 1st ruck in the paper - so who is leading Glenelgs ruck - Golding?

Looking at Andrews bio on the AFC website - it says Andrews "will" strengthen Adelaides ruck.

Unusual difinitive comment for just a rookie

Really think his longterm future is as a defender, with bursts at CHF.
His game is best suited to a straight ahead style. OK for CHF, but doesn't have the ability to turn players around and is not quite clever enough with his limited tricks at CHF.

What Wayne said.

Playing Kenny at CHF significantly weakens our backline.

I assume WW meant "OK for CHB"?

Fair enough comments. I meant more as a stop-gap solution whilst Watts develops.

I think McGregor has a bit more smarts than Perrie for the position. Kenny certainly did alright there earlier this year.

I realise that would leave a hole at CHB. Maybe if Hentschel bulks up, he could fit in there.

Perrie is a better CHF than McGregor.

McGregor is a far better CHB than Perrie

Why not just play them where they are suited?

Yes I did mean OK as a CHB - but as my previous stated position he is no game winner - just very reliable.
I like Hentschell at CHB with Mcgregor the 3rd tall.

With Watts probably the future CHF, I don't see Hentschell as a FF - why? - he is too good with his decision making and disposal to be a FF receiver - he should be delivering the ball .

IMO a third tall forwrd or CHB.

Yep, bring Perrie in. We don't have anyone else to play at CHF.

We may be able to bring in a key backman that will allow McGregor to play CHF. That may be Parker.

If Freo are sucessful in getting hay to return to WA then maybe we could trade for Hadrill. He is a hugely underated player. We haven't had a decent full back since Jamieson.

I'd be fine with Hentschel at CHb and Watts at CHF, but McGregor should then go to FB and BASSETT to 3rd tall. McGregor is MUCH better at negating the big forwards than Bassett, McGregor actually CAN play on Lynch. Bassett shapes much better as a third tall.
