Hmmm .... Was the moustache a reverse disguise that he wore so that when he retired as a superhero footy player he could slip back into mainstream society and move about un-noticed?
I think it's definitely tradecraft. First day of spy school... if you want to misdirect someone get them to focus on something distinctive.

Conclusion: Joe is 100% working for ASIO.

Well on that basis we could argue that Joe's been working for ASIO for 10 years. Was he really injured all that time at Essendon? 🤔

Is happily go watch that. The joe show against not the best the competition has to offer? He'd be free to entertain the heck out of us.
I would put Joe at FF and tell him just fly for speccies.

Dale Tapping has also passed away. Dreadful. Both so young. 💔
Yeah I clicked onto to the story about Troy Selwood's passing and was shocked to also see Dale's passing.
Wasn't that long ago he was always walking around the Gabba on game day.
Both way too young, makes you think about the so called retiring age of 67 and how much money you are supposed to have.
Enjoy life and don't wait too long to start enjoying it .
So sad.

I hear you.

Brisbane Lions CEO, Greg Swann said:
“On behalf of the Brisbane Lions, we extend our deepest condolences to the entire Selwood family at this very difficult time.
“Troy was much loved amongst his teammates and respected across the industry for his work in multiple football roles.”
He wore jumper #28, he played 17-16-14-13-10-5 games year by year from 2005-10, and played his last game in Jonathan Brown’s 200th game at Marvel Stadium in Round 21 2010, when the Lions beat Essendon by 27 points.
He had a career-best of 35 possessions in his 34th game in 2007, when the Lions were beaten by 64 points, and polled his one and only Brownlow Medal vote in his 47th game in Joel’s first season.
The ultimate team player and hugely popular with his teammates, he was a fearless competitor remembered for a sickening head-on collision with Richmond’s Alex Rance in Round 7 2009 at the MCG, when both players were knocked out.
Club legend Michael Voss, Lions coach at the time, reflected on a moment which typified the Selwood approach and sparked a memorable comeback win after they’d conceded the first four goals.
"Every now again as a coach you get goose bumps about different things, and I got goose bumps when I saw that," Voss said. "I thought 'that's what teamwork is all about' - when one of your mates puts his body on the line for you and is willing to hurt himself for the greater cause.
"When you see all the guys go over to him after the game and acknowledge that effort, it is spine tingling. And when you see a commitment like that from one of your teammates you can't help but not want to let him down."

There was a time not that long ago where, had I not gotten help, I would most likely not be here now. If anyone reading this has been feeling like this, please know help is out there and it does make a difference.

Thank you for sharing. I'm sad that you got to that point and very grateful that you got help.

I hope this community can continue to show compassion and inclusiveness to all contributors. You never know what someone's state of mind is, and yes when we are not doing well we can become a little intolerant and opinionated and abrasive. It has been wonderful to see that when that happens there are posters who reach out and ask if that person is OK.

Connections, even with known strangers (that's most of us) really can make a difference.
