Ripper never shirks an issue. He's a country member and 5 times a year he does a 1600km round trip to watch his beloved team play. That's a fair few kms and a fair bit of devotion to the cause. He's probably on the road right now.

Wasn't good. but wasn't as bad as some are making out.

We had enough of it and enough inside 50's & scoring shots but you are not going to beat anyone when you kick 6 goals plenty plus 4 OOF's plus a couple that didn't make the distance.

Thought we controlled the third quarter but couldn't buy a goal to save ourselves.

Second week in a row we have kicked ourselves out of it badly.

I am just as gutted as everybody else.

you have made some valid points.....but it does not mean anything and what i mean by that is you as a supporter have taken the highs and the lows for CC whole time at the helm and have backed him in . why well i believe you have such a strong sense of loyalty TO THE CLUB that you feel you must always look for the positive things and that is to be commended BUT when a bloke comes in and coaches our club for this amount of time has done practically nothing when you look at SUCCESS because nothing else matters he has done nothing.
wake up to yourself and see that by having him in there any longer is detrimental to what you want and have been fighting for , for so long..do you think when this chump is gone in a few years he will give a sh*t what happens as much as a supporter like yourself who has been there from the start....i think not. i like your passion and positivety, it actually rivals my dislike and perhaps you can say negativety towards him but i feel you are misguided.

As I posted on another thread He has lifted Freo form the undisputed worst performing team to the 7th best since 2002.

Whether he can take us any further this year will tell but whatever the club owes CC a debt of gratitude for lifting us this much.

A measure of how successful he has been turning the place around is that fans now expect success.

All the "sack the coach crew" achieve is to give the players an easy out for their own shortcomings.

" Its not me , it must be the coach , everyone says so."

Exactly right.
The way the white-ant brigade has been going on you'd think CC played every position yesterday.

Yep. I'm with Ripper. If we'd got 4 early goals instead of points who knows what might have happened.

It was a shocking game but it happens. Ask Tiger Woods - he missed the cut yesterday didn't he?

It's easy to say that the players are not playing for the coach, but they're not even playing for one another, or us as fans/members. In any case professional sportsmen should be able to get themselves motivated for a win.

I assume many of them are getting a rocket up their ar$e right now. Lots of you would like to see it done publicly but rightly or wrongly, that has never been Connelly's way.

Let's always blame the coach and continue to give our precious players an easy cop out.

yeah your'e right how dare i come out after 1 bad game and say the coach is no good the players do everything the coach tells em to do..

Yep. Connelly tells the players to kick it out on the full, miss our first four shots on goal, constantly miss targets. I'm sure he does. Players have nothing to answer for.

no he doesnt, does he take them for training? has he had some of those players for his whole tenure as coach apart from Harvey and shaw has he picked his own coaching staff when he first arrived? does he develop players at the club ? does he take them for pre season training? does he pick the team with his coaching staff? hmm. will he take the credit for coaching the team to the finals and beyond? did he take the credit in 2003? will he admit to making huge mistakes while coaching fremantle? will he step down after 5 YEARS OF NO SUCCES?

Can only do so much at training. I see most Monday training sessions and the skills are much better than come matchday. Our players were unaccountable yesterday, dropped their heads when down, didn't play for one another or their club. Would have been about 14-15 responsible. What can the coach do, drop them all. Lack of depth is a real worry at the moment, hence why M Carr has not been dropped this season.

Players missed their chances yesterday and early on they had plenty of them. Why? Well being jeered and abused by your own clubs supporters might affect a couple of them. Definitely down on confidence.

I still think if we'd kicked straight and hopped out to a four goal lead, the game would have taken a decidedly different turn.

why are you talking about 1 game....yes we had a bad game yes the palyers let the coach the club, everyone down.....we are talking about nearly 5 years with this man at the helm. we need someone who can take this club further.
Lets measure his success since he has been here, yes our away record has improved, yes we reached the finals once, yes he has brought on some players who have been good for the club....but now please listen carefully.......WE HAVENT WON F*CK ALL because we havent made it anywhere near the finals nor won anything of significance....the club is there to win games and succes is measured by premierships, to win them you must make the finals. players come and go coaches come and go but we are the ones that sit there everyweek and go thru the highs and lows, player take their slice of the pie and move on.

Last 5 years only three teams have won anything that's worth anything. Flags are not as easy to get as you are suggesting. 15 clubs miss out each year.

so if you cant make win a premiership in any particular year you are happy to not make the finals?

Although our inconsistency (losing to Hawks, Brissy, Kangas, ess) over the last 2 years is what cost us a place in the finals, luck also plays it part.

Had we not got a dubious umpiring decision down in Tassie v St K, we would have played finals last year. Injuries can play their part too, look at the difference between 2005 Magpies and this year. We are unable to cover the loss of Bell, Grover, Thornton, J Lo, Polly etc as well as the continued injury to Hase.

Luckily things can be turned around pretty quickly too eg Bulldogs from their finish in 2005 to this point in 2006.

Hopefully some home truths over the break can change some of our ways. We especially need some bonding between both the players and coaches. CC will not be sacked within the next 6 weeks so why not try and join the club in turning the season around, rather than continue the negativity. If our players had that attitude and were to continue to be negative, then they should all be sacked. My belief is that they will do some heartfelt soul-searching and look forward to winning some games.

i want my team to win but i dont want him coaching the team, he has had his time, we were at crisis point this time last year, we won a swag of games and finshed off the year by just missing the 8...and here we are (now this is my point) AGAIN what has changed? since 2003 we have gone backwards everyteam has injuries some cope, some dont. comparisons cant be drawn like that granted but im worried abot my team and its success, yes its easy to look at other teams and wish it were your team in a grand final but it doesnt change anything much like our situation........ any member of our club who is happy with the statement made by our chairman at the end of last season really doesnt care about whether our club has success but just want to follow a team.
all you people who are happy to have CC at the helm again next year , do you still want him there if we miss the finals again?

Depending on what happens in the next couple of months, I'm no certainty to want CC at the club next year. In fact I understand the pain and the reasons why so many at Freo want him out.

My point is that it is not gonna happen while we are 6 and 6 and a chance to play finals. So I may as well get on with supporting my club (admin, coach and players included) and look to the opportunity of turning it all around, which is what the Club will be doing.

After the last ten years, and the familiar pattern of the last three years, it would be easy to simply give up on 2006.

But I won't.

ultimately as a member all you can do is pay up your membership at the start of the year then the club doesnt give 2 hoots what your opinion is or the other members , they have your money , they will do what they like, its all irrelevant , thats my point, whether im supporting CC or am against him its irrelevant to them

After watching yesterdays game Do you seriously think we are a chance of making the 8? Seriously?

We aren't!!

Not unless we do something to change the path we are on, and have been on for 3 years.

The only way we will make the finals now is if we be pro active and change the coach now, otherwise it will be another lost season and also a lost opportunity to try Harvey out.
Surely all you pro Connolly people must have enough foresight to realise that after watching yesterdays game??? Surely??

i dont want him sacked now.....he can finish out the year he desrves a certain amount of dignity but the only way it would be acceptable if he quit and P Sumich took the job.
thats just my opinion

So you've given up on this year. That's your right.

Do you think Port have given up on 2006, or St Kilda, Richmond or even Geelong? I don't think so.
