Feel free to vent in here.

Went from top of the ladder all season to a prelim loss.

Looking back now;

Pre-season poor selections :
Dropped Gibbs 30 mins before lockout rd 1 for Cam Bruce.
A ruck line of Mumford, Cox, Petrie and Bailey was swapped for Cox, Sandi, Smith and Keeffe.
Guthrie over Puopolo
Bewick & Wallis over Curnow & Mzungu
Hayes over Dal Santo
Dawes over Cloke

Trade blunders
Went way to early on Lower @ $166K
Traded Shaw in over Birchall a week before the suspension
Sylvia (for dual position) over StevieJ before the dees game
Got Fisher & Gilbert right as they began to tail off again towards end of season
Opted for Guerra in/Heppell out instead of Riewoldt in/Yarran out

The lessons learnt
Boyd will not be picked over Mitchell or Judd next season
Dont go past the bargains (Petrie, Hale, Bailey, the list goes on)
Broughton, Sandilands, Rioli, Grimes. I thank you for many years of service, but dont hold your breathe on a spot next year
Selwood is worth 4 weeks on the bench
S.Thompson - pick the guns despite workmates who continually talk about him to the point that you are sick of them.
M.Murphy. Out this year, will be back next.

and the Wins
Early calls that paid off - Fyfe, Darling, Heppell, Scotland, Krakouer, Isaac Smith, Stefan Martin.
Mid-season gamble pay-offs - Dalhaus, Mzungu, Curnow (week one for Wallis), Hibberd.
The good ole reliable selections - Buddy, Pav, Goodes, Goddard, Deledio, Cox, Judd, Pendlebury.

It's Sam Mitchell's fault.

Finished 8th in my BF league but that was with a deliberate strategy to do just enough to get into the 8 and be geared towards finals. Had Judd to trade late last week and was tossing up Mitchell or Hodge as they both had "easy" weeks ahead - went Mitchell due to a higher average even though the gut said Hodge.

Obviously Mitchell doesn't play, Didak's 70 comes in instead and I lose by 33. Hodge would've been enough, too.

There's been a few
the bad calls
On the weekend Played Bartel(107) in front Montagna(133), Lost by 5 points
Jarred Brennan just in general
Taylor Walker (you know what you did)

the good calls
Heath Scotland, Fyfe, heppel, Rockliff before round 1
not trading Rockliff before round 3 due to poor start
booted Zac Smith before it went South

No mistakes listed on this thread can beat mine.

First season of playing Supercoach. Was invited to play weeks before the season started. Picked my team then (about 6 weeks or so or something before the season had started) - then promptly forgot about it. Remembered I was in it AFTER the first round had started.

Checked my team - I had 7 players as my starters who didn't play in that round, and another 5 on the bench who didn't play in the first round. Quite a number of those were long-term injuries.

I only worked out the captains/vice-captains thing 4 rounds in. Emergencies I worked out in about round 10.

Train wreck.

Still, it was good fun - I'll be back next season hopefully. This time with a little bit more of an idea about how it works! :D

Will post more in the yet-to-be-created end of season-review thread , but here's a taste -

- Started season with M Coad
- Cracked the shits when he hadn't played after about 5 rds so traded
- Gets picked , has a blinder
- does season-ending hamstring tear sunday
- Monday arvo , NSWCROW trades him IN :eek::eek::eek:

Mitchell pretty much stuffed it up for me. Had no cover and lost all my 4 of my finals. Other factors was Puopolo on the bench with Grundy and Broughton starting. I also used my last trade on Lower to Bock which didn't work out too good.

I just didn't do enough research.

I was flat stick at the start of the year and would have put less than 6 hours into my team.

It shows, from round 1 to now I have Joel Tippet and Gorringe as my backup ruckmen.

I didn't even know who Zac Smith was.

First year for me too, massive failure.

Got invited to the work league on the thursday of round 1, spent about an hour (extended lunch) throwing my team together. Sheesh.

Way too many bombers, didnt even consider the bye, and a whole bunch of gold coast kids who i thought would step up and magically be amazing.

Spent the first 5-6 weeks trading out bombers players to not get dogged by the bye again like round one and gold coast players who just seemed to never be getting games, but for the first few weeks didnt take notice of the green light, so ended up trading for injured/suspended players. And then once they were back guess who else was, all the gold coast kids i got impatient with and traded.

Then continued to trade every bloody week to get as close to 22 on the field as i could even in the non competition rounds, really didnt think it through.
Was lucky with a few early pickups like leunberger (apologies if spelling is wrong) and heppel plus a few more, but that was about all that went my way.

Then to top it off just as i thought things were starting to look ok and id posted a couple of wins and i could start trading in some better players, i decided to get heath shaw 2 minutes before his suspension was announced.
Pretty much gave up from there.

but iv learnt now and am pretty excited about doing it properly next year.

After starting NRoo all year, decided to bench him for prelim in favour of I Smith in my Cash League. Lost by 24 points.
Had Puopolo, NRoo, and Krackouer and their 430 points combined on the bench!

Starting with Swan instead of Pendlebury

Not starting with Curnow (seems like a long time ago doesn't it!) at the start of the season

Not having Petrie at all this season, Zac Smith as second ruckman hurt me some weeks.

Having Derrickx as 4th ruckman, didn't play a game all year and I had no money to upgrade him

Wasting 2 trades by trying to be clever mid-season and trading in Dustin Martin only to give up on his average scores after about 5 weeks

Bringing Mitchell in last week over Selwood, and having no midfield cover. Cost me 1 prelim final

Starting with Jack Grimes.

Being pole-axed in early multi bye rounds via being too heavy with multi bye players.

Trading in Newman and getting 1 game out of him!?

Not starting with Judd or M Murphy (based on cash leagues)

"Where it went right"

Making both cash league grand finals!

Didnt have a bad season overall but what really cuts me up is my kryptonyte-like weakness for mid pricers!

They suck me in every time. Knights, Otten, R Murphy, Krakourflap, J Reiwoldt, and Higgins. These 6 cost me severely with not one of them producing the required result.

Having said that Cotchin did work out but honestly...just give me the 50k already! I wantz it and it is my rightz!

Ooh, is Grimes only 340k...ooh, i love a bargain, i'm sure everything will work out

BG - depending on how you used Krakouer I think he was a decent starting pick. If you traded him in round 6 for Jack Riewoldt then, yes, that didn't really work out.

But I kept him then and by round 10 he had become a floating MPP bench cover player between my forwards and mids. He allowed me to switch Mzungu as cover as needed and produced decent cover scores when needed. I bet I have to use him this weekend.

Remember he was only $12K more than Swallow so really was more like an expensive rookie than a mid-pricer unless that's just a convenient use of labels.

Hey Hondo, good to see you posting a bit on here. Really rate your posts :thumbsu:

Yeah, i'm being harsh on Krakouer (MPP was good); and J Reiwoldt was a tactical decision for a match bet (not really my personal choice). R Murphy was a late bad pick based on my trades left scenario...I picked him to save the double-trade and it was choice between him, gilbert and didak. So not that bad a result.

With Krakouer I was slightly disappointed that he was in such a great team (i had him from the start) but couldnt convert those opportunities into bigger scores. He lived a charmed life in the end with injuries to Dick, Didak, and Sidebottom saving his spot at times. I also chose to keep him over Heppell which hurts a little.

You're def correct in that Kraks price put him closer to the rookie price with the bonus of MPP. That lower price was the reason islotted him in...like most everyone else :thumbsu:

Relatively minor mistakes but all costly.

Picking the final player for my starting team. There was $1k difference between Fisher and Duffield. Naturally I chose the Duffman. Cost me about 30 points a round.

Didnt get Heppell or Petrie. That really hurt.

Jumped on the JackRoo bandwagon but didn't get Fyfe.

Really should have grabbed GAJ and NDS when they bottomed out.

Lots of good stuff though.
Had Curnow on my starting team along with Pendles and Murphy over Swan and Judd. Andy Swallow has been good but a bit inconsistent.

Overall a few minor changes and I would have been right up there. Happy with my season overall.

In my main cash league I lost to one of the bottom teams by 2 points in round 20. I made the mistake in starting Z.Smith (35) when instead I could have moved Petrie to my rucks and played I.Smith (99) or Mzungu (113) in F7. This loss gave me a finish of 5th for the next week of the finals which would of been 4th if i had of won. I went on to lose to 8th by 11 points whilst witnessing my score been higher than highest ranked team, who I would of played if I finished 4th. To rub salt into the wounds I also had a score higher than any of the Prelim finalists for premlim final week. This will make it a long and hard supercoach offseason knowing that starting Z. Smith in round 20 cost me a gf birth. Absolutely gutted!

Got my rookies right at the start, but traded a few good ones out early, like heppell instead of duigan, and d stanley instead of andy otten
Picking hodge over priddis at around round 18 was fairly costly
not starting with petrie
but over all not a bad season, sitting around 7000, and in 3 grannys, my goal is to crack the 5000 next year

Using trade every single week, trying to improve side lol
Traded out I.Smith and Broughton early rounds and brought them both back later on
Having Higgins and N.Roo all year waiting for them to improve :P
Not including Pavlich and Fyfe all year :/

1. Spent 2 trades bringing in Jack Riewoldt. Disaster.
2. Started with Shaun Higgins in my side. NEVER AGAIN.
3. Purchased Chapman at $541k. Should have gone Fyfe earlier but didn't believe a 2nd year player could keep tonning it up.
4. Relied on Zac Smith about 2 weeks too many

Otten, Irons, Toy, Prestia, N Riewoldt all bust picks. Grimes and Selwood also hurt me.

So close to the $50k yet so far...
