Hi All,

Wondering if someone maybe able to point me in the right direction. Never played footy (AFL) just rugby and soccer.

After a long break from team sports due to work and new family commitments, I'm finally at a stage that I can take on more activities outside of work and home. Being at the gym 3-4/week since June is good for my fitness but I do miss the fun factor from team sports.

So I started thinking about taking up footy... problem is I have never played. Is there a comp for newbies to enter and just give it ago? I'm in Williamstown area so thought the WRFL may have something?

Cheers.

Im a girl but you can try having a kick at a oval and pratice your skills, watch more afl and learn all the rules then consider going to Williamstown Seagulls...

Good luck!

Mate, most clubs in 2nd division WRFL would welcome you to come down and train over the pre-season (most start mid-late November) and allow yourself to train and develop and a) give you the feel of whether you are up to it and b) give you some coaching and help you and ultimately if you are up to it, encourage you to stay or if not they may allow you to stay and train or if you are a detriement to the skills and drills may push you to leave and go elsewhere.

So look up the division 2 clubs and see what may suit you best travel-wise and otherwise Williamstown CYMS is probably your closest club and is in D1 or D2 in the VAFA and may help you out. If you are over-age I think Saade Ghazi is coaching a super-rules team down Williamstown way so look them up.

We are not too far away in Laverton (WRFL Division 2) and you would always be welcome to come and train and see how you go and we start Monday November 22.

Cheers.

If your over 30 or turning 30 next year try Werribee Superrules, they play out of Chirnside Park in Werribee.

Werribee have 3 teams of varying age groups and standards, so you always get a game, not like some Superrules clubs.

PM for more details if you interested.
