i have no idea but going by the injury list from week to week i could only guess he is running up a nick davis-like medical bill???

im not sure if that is correct or not though

He tore his hammy off the bone ala what Davey was rumoured to have done on Sunday and is unlikely to play for the rest of the year.

He could play too, guess it personifies our year so far. Elevated onto the senior list, injures a hammy out for the season immediately.

Thought he must be injured again.
I think that over the past 3 years of Footy, Zane has played a total of 5 games and none in the past 2 1/2 years.
Surly our recruiting Dept must have done some homework on the boy.
Can we flick a guy on the rookie list during the year if he has a injury to allow another player to become a AFL rookie. We have a rookie that can't get on the park so it's only common sense that we give another kid a chance.

Great idea, lets delist Cam Cloke, Didak and Waklin because they all have long term injuries justso that we can give a few untried kids a chance.
Man you should be an AFL coach you are an inspiration.

We need to hear more of "The thoughts of KAOS"

Errrm.

Tom Davidson's injury allowed Nick Maxwell to be elevated.

It's this thing called the "Long-term injury list". If an injury is over 6 weeks in it's length, eg. Davidson, we can elevate a rookie to take his place on the list temporarily.

The injured players don't get delisted!

But, I think there is a cut off date near the end of the season so I doubt any more rookies will come up (Crow) but I think if it were say round 6 he could come up and Leonard would go on the rookie list.

Hoggy I understand the system fully.
We didn't "flick" (my interpretation is delist) Tommy as KAOS is suggesting with Zane.
Elavating players as a result of long term injuries is common.
Delisting a player because he has a long term injury (while it does happen) is not so common particularly when the argument is to put someone else on the list who is totally untried as KAOS is.
His argument goes "get rid of an untried player because he is a long term injury and put on another untried player" explain the sense of that to me.

It makes sense to me that if a rookie has a long term injury we can give him the "flick" and try a player from Willy.
I'm sure that a young player at Willy would benifit from being in a full time AFL team.
With the coaches and facilities we have got I'm sure that his footy would improve and would easily step up to AFL level if given the chance.
No use having a Rookie when he can't get on the park.

Please tell me if we can "delist" a rookie during the year ?

MORE WORDS OF WISDOM

Well to answer your question without being a tosser (which some find difficult around here) I'd say yes you can, but you surely can't replace him with, for example, a VFL listed player.

Zane is a fantastic athlete, and can play footy and a ferocious pace and with great aggression - our recruiters did their homework on him, don't worry about that.

Hopefully he get's another rookie contract next year, because I've got NO doubt whatsoever that he's good enough for AFL level.

He played in 2 or 3 practice matches.

v Sydney (VP) - looked OK, but not great
v Port Adelaide (Alice Springs) - Kicked 2 goals and was named the 3rd best for the pies in a narrow loss.

not sure if he played v Melbourne at Victoria Park, have no report on that game.

Well, Zane Leonard is turning 20 this year, 19 when drafted.

He played TAC U18 football, so I would have thought he did play inside 3 years of footy. But i do think Zane was picked up under athletic ability, considering he is an athletic champion under-age athlete in 100m sprint, long-jump, triple-jump and hurdles.
