Which Essendon player needs to step up the most in 06'?.

I think Jobe Watson needs to step up because he has had an ordinary start to his career - because of injurys.

if your talking about which player needs to stand up for essendon to be sucessfull you would say dyson, stanton and monfries. If your talking from an individual point of view I would say the whole team apart from Lucas, hird, the johnsons and Fletcher, why? Because there the only blokes who played well last season.

Solomon. Especially with a lot of inexperienced and lighter bodies in our team, a big season from Solly would lift the whole team and re-establish himself as one of our best players and on-field leaders.

Jobe, Winderlich and perhaps Laycock of the younger blokes. Been around a few years and need to make their mark.

winderlick, watson and chartledge need to stand up to show if they will be apart of the future, we need steady improvement from players like laycock, lovett, monfries, bradley, dyson and stanton so that they become very good players instead of handy thereabouts. ( personally i think monfries, stanton and dyson are the best we got of the young guys all very talented) also we need blokes like solomon, mveigh, welsh and hille 2 lift a notch or else our club will be in limbo 4 many yrs to come

Watson and Winderlich are now at the stage where they need to make their mark and become regular senior players. Their development time is nearly over and they need to make a spot their own. If Winderlich is still playing reserves for most of this year he might not be back for 2007.

Both have apparently had big pre-seasons so hopefully they do produce.

Soloman has been far too undisiplined of late and with lloyds heavy emphasis on the disipline, he could be the one that may improve heaps.
Couldn't agree more. Add the inconsistent McPhee and Welsh as well. It's time for Jobe and Licha to take another upwards,as well.
But Solly is my first pick - pull the finger out Solly !

Watson , Reynolds, and Winderlich have to improve and show something consistantly. Henno and Bolton have to have a career year to justify their spot on the list. Laycock has to keep going forward. Cartledge may be given a little more time as he has improved his ruck work and is reasonably skillfull for a big guy. Dyson would be expected to continue his upward trend.

I wouldnt say McPhee is inconsistent, he just hasnt been able to stay healthy. I think his a consistent contributor when fit and probably played a few games he shouldnt have last year.

Looking at Mcphee's stats for last season he was on track to have a better season than he did in 2004.

Mark Bolton as well, his make or break year i think he could be decent as a tagger he has the engine for it and has done well in the past doing so and if he plays for Essendon i think Sheedy should just give him a tagging role every week.

Many of them- Henneman needs to show he can actually play. Although he will still be on our list no matter what.

Winderlich and Watson- Bolton as well.

David Hille is the one for me who needs to stand up and become of the top 5 ruckman in the leauge. Has shown in games that he is good enough to do so. Did very well to come back last year with very little pre-season and played some fairly good games intil he wacked David Hale in the face. The ruck has been one area of the game that Essendon has not got alot out of since 2000. He also showed what he can do up forward in the last quater of the final quater against Melbourne in 2004 and may be a bonus with he or Laycock up there when both on the field together

I really think McVeigh needs to stand up and be a 20+ possesion winner this year. He shows glimpses in pretty much every game, but very rarely strings 4 (or even 3) quarters together. Frustrates me a lot because it's obvious how good he is or how good he can be, just look at that goal against Collingwood. I'm really hoping for a big top 5 b & f finish season from McVeigh.

If Winda can step up and have a big year, and earn himself a spot in the midfield, then suddenly where was once our big weakness will start to look very good. J Johnson, Stanton, Winda, M Johnson. Throw in Monfries, McPhee (occasionally), Watson (maybe) and maybe McVeigh.

But if Winda does stand up and do well, I can't see a spot for Peverill on our list in 2007.
