Which Player from your team will get his number retired?

you're kidding me, right?

if it weren't for Jason Kidd, they'd still be duking it out with the Clippers for 2nd worst record every season

No I am not kidding; he only played about 500 games for the franchise over 7 years and IMO he didn’t do enough to demand his number be retired.

Ah well he was right ..

Oh btw I think it's time the Lakers should retire Michael Cooper's number, he was a gun and crucial player for LA (and a better player IMHO then Kurt 'four-eyes' Rambis, whose number I believe is retired by LA) ...

BTW I thnk Kobe should change his number again to 69 (for obvious reasons !!! :D)

coops was another cog in the showtime days. his D and finishing the strengths. but if his no. is to be retired its his coaching at the sparks that will get him over the line :D

dwade
mourning
maybe marion

You're kidding right? No way will Marion's number be retired at our club, he just got there and he's done nothing spectacular.

Only Wade and Mourning will be retired from our club to date. I liked Tim Hardaway as well but don't think he did enough while at the Heat to get his number retired. Maybe he'll be retired at Golden State.

I reckon if the Celtics win a title this year or next, I think there will be an excellent, compelling argument to retire KG's number ...

Seriously I would hang his name to the banners if we can finally reach title no 17 ..

Oh P-Double is an certantity IMHO.

BTW just on the Knicks, I reckon they should retire John Starks number, just was such a great part of their successful teams in the 90's ..

No way they'd retire KG jersey after 2-3 years in it even with a title.

The players they have retired were there for along time and were superstars and great clubmen for the Celtics for those extended periods of time.

KG might get his number retired in Minn. but not in Boston.

finally someone with a bit of sense!

Chris Paul and probably David West as well.

I just meant the players that were playing now. The club tries to have as little to do with the Charlotte days as possible now so the only ones from then would be Rice, Muggsy and maybe Curry.

Zo was only around for a couple of seasons before he chose to leave us so no, Geiger wasn't around long either and was hardly a standout player plus he was on steroids (or at least was latter on). LJ maybe, forgot about him.

Do ya reckon they will retire Dirk's number down in Dallas?

Might as well i reckon, he sums up the whole team with his front running and choking, who better to have their number retired.

I know you're asking with tongue in cheek, but given he holds just about every club record with Dallas, he is as sure a thing as anyone. Ditto KG in Minnesota.

BTW
Just on my earlier comment, didn't the Rockets retire Clyde Drexler's number as well after playing most of his career at Portland, but winning a title at Houston ???
Although he was a legendary player at the University of Houston as well pre his NBA career, so that might have had something to do with it as well ..

Kurt's number/s have not been retired, which one would you choose anyway, 18, 30 or 31?

As for Cooper, I agree with you 100%, his number should have been retired a decade ago... at least. A valuable contributor to 5 Laker champiionships, and one of the best defensive guards of his time.

Interestingly, for a franchise as sucessful as the Lakers, they haven't retired that many numbers:

13 - Wilt Chamberlain
22 - Elgin Baylor
25 - Gail Goodrich
32 - Earvin 'Magic' Johnson
33 - Karrem Abdul-Jabbar
42 - James Worthy
44 - Jerry West

Unlike the Celtics who have retired about 15-20 numbers, including Bill Walton who played about 10 minutes for the Celtics.:D

The only other Lakers who should have their number retired are Shaq and Kobe. Perhaps Byron Scott or Jamaal Wilkes, but only after Cooper.

Um actually KG is wearing Big Bill's number (5) when he was at the Celtics ..
Good omen, Big Bill came on board right before the 86 season .. Even though he was only there a couple of years, Walton considers himself a 'Celtic for life' though :)

no ones perfect ;)

None of the Knicks.
Hopefully David Lee plays a long career with us and gets close.
I'd love to have #34 retired for Oak, and get Curry out of it, he disgraces that number.
i'd retire #14 for Mase, no one deserves that number anymore either.

From the current Kings team, NO ONE!!!!

However, if we go a couple of years back and I think Vlade Divac will have his number retired and once Webber retires I think they would do the same. Those 2 are responsible for putting the Kings on the map worldwide. Maloofs have already hinted that Vlade's number will be retired as he was the rock that made the powerful Kings of old!

Stiffy...You and I are likely the only Sacramento Kings fans in all of Oz. I grew up there, so I have an excuse. What's yours?
I think there is a chance they'd retire Vlade's 21 and Webb's 4. They retired Mitch Richmond's number and he never played on a .500 team in Sac.

Go Kings!

My reason for following the Kings is Vlade Divac! Being Serbian like Vlade, he was my basketball idol and I followed him where ever he went. So once upon a time I was a Lakers bandwagoner (*puke*), then the Hornets and then the Kings. Have been a Kings fan ever since even though both Vlade and Pedja left. That team was as good and as most entertaining I have EVER seen and I see Vlade and C-Webb as the reasons why that team went from a laughing stock worldwide to a genuine contender and a team that was loved worldwide.

I still keep an eye out on the Hornets due to Pedja and I wish them well but I have remained loyal to the Kings even through these trying times. We will get better....eventually :)

But I don't think any team the Kings put together will quite have the same feel as the one featuring Vlade, Webb, Pedja, Doug, Mike and the bench mob.
