I am looking forward to seeing some of the younger guys step up this year.

Only saw glimpses of Lennon last year. A couple of nice debut goals against Melbourne but he didn't get much game time. Based on his rating in the 2013 draft, there must lot more to his game. Meant to play like Brendan Goddard (according to his Draft Bio).

Also can't wait to see Liam McBean terrorising opposition defenders. Hopepully will get a debut and plenty of game time.

Reckon Grimes and Edwards will have super years. Not that young these 2 but important players and the types we need to step up

Conca.

I'd like to see Vlastuin step up too but it's only his 3rd season. Still plenty of development in him.

Hoping Menadue can get a gig early, don't care about his weight restricting him. If he's good enough he'll play.

Oh and of course TV and Griff. Think both can become great contributors, especially TV.

Conca, Vlastuin - big pre seasons, concs first uninterrupted preseason with the club (touch wood)

Vickery - backing him in, will be close to top 5 in our b&f next year.

Riewoldt - first season in years he hasn't required surgery in the off season, look out!

Batchelor & Astbury are apparently tearing up the track as well.

A large number of guys could conceivably improve this year, which is why it baffles me when I hear comments in the media that we've got no improvement left in the squad (L Darcy - looking at you.)

Lennon, Conca, Vlastuin, Vickery, Griffiths, Astbury, Grimes, Batchelor, Lloyd, Gordon, McDonough, Dea, Hunt, Morris and even Cotchin and Martin all have the capacity to improve greatly. Some guys just need to maintain their form, like Miles, Ellis, Maric, Rance and Deledio (2nd half of 2014). Others I don't think will improve greatly - Newman, Edwards, Petterd, Foley, Chaplin, Houli, Grigg, Thomas, Arnot - but not sure we're relying on them to as much as the former group.

Then there's the potential for immediate impact from guys like Ellis, Menadue, Lambert and Drummond.

I'm probably biased as hell, like most of us, but I love the direction we're headed and have a good feeling about 2015, but an even better one about 2016. Got a strong core of young players with bags of improvement left that should be peaking around that time IMO.

Having said all that, if I had to pick one guy for a break out year, it'd be Conca.

positive thing for me is, not only did we start winning once we got our injured players back in the 2nd half of the year, but looking at our list, basically apart from a couple, those not in the 22 at the end of last year, are younger than those they could push out of the 22 if that makes any sense.
if we had older guys pushing younger blokes out i'd be worried but it's the other way around & with that in mind, we have basically added younger/depth to most lines on our list.

Darcy is a toss and hates RFC and loves it when we lose, I feel the same about Ling and a couple of others. Like stylo mentioned the core of our best have plenty of room to step it up, but I would love to see our previous drafts like Beanie Elton Kamdyn become revelations. And our most recent recruits I would dare say it has been one of the best drafting years given the picks we have had in a long long time. Not just biased Drummond Lambert Short Casta Menadue Ellis hoooweee counting the days for nab

Great call Rusty. You beat me too it. This is the kid to go up another gear. And I reckon Gordo or Lloyd may go ok as well.
Lloyd in an AFL system is scary , shorts take longer to develop and I've seen the Denny League first hand and it's not easy to kick 100 goals in a season as some of those farmers that play first grade each week in their late 30's are fitter than Craig Bradley ever was especially around Harvest time .

Expectation is that the first round picks should naturally show progression eg Conca, Vlastuin, Lennon - as Ellis has already made that jump. Conca is the one lagging a bit here, so hopefully he goes bang this season.

Think Batchelor set himself up away from the club to get a fit as possible before they returned to preseason, so you think he knows, now is his time to grab a spot or his career could dry up pretty quickly from here. I reckon he has given himself every chance by the sounds of reports. Still see him as a fringe player, so it will be interesting to see how it unfolds for him in 2015.

The one I am most hopeful for, would have to be Lloyd. Lloyds got goal sense that not to many others in the squad have, just seemed to run out of puff a bit too quickly in games last season. So hopefully now entering his second year, his fitness levels have gone up a few notches. Competition will be extremely tough to get a spot on the forward line this year, but surely he is right in the mix if his running ability has improved.

Mate, i know. Ever been squirrel gripped by a spud farmer? Those bastards will tear your nutsack off if given half a chance.
