A pox on your poxy clash strips. I long for the days North Melbourne versus Collingwood on a black and white TV as god intended.

Yeah I guess from the back it is a clash. I was only thinking looking front on.

Agree that we should get a "proper" clash jumper. Unfortunately, this design is what was submitted and it was accepted.

Now that it has, I'd be pissed if we are told to change and Collingwood isn't. Having said that, I can see why the other 16 clubs are pissed at Essendon and Collingwood.

We're (well me anyway) are pissed at Dons and Pies because all the other clubs, even the 'traditional ones' like Carlton have tried and come up with genuine clash strips and, the Pies in particular, have just told the AFL and the rest of the league that they make their own rules on the issue. Then when they turn up to a game like this, its the home team that has to accommodate the insubordinate/incompetent (unable to come up with a decent clash uniform) ones. In the end of the day it makes little difference and I'm not losing sleep over it, but it's the principle.

Being a night game the clash wouldn't have been as predominant were it during the day. Probably just my seats being directly opposite the sun though but Idon't mind the white shorts and purple top. The AFL are treacherous cretins though no doubt.

Maybe one of the umps is secretly colour blind.

As opposed to just plain old blind.

Or blind in one eye.

As an aside, I can't understand why Essendon would rather wear a rubbish looking jumper, instead of simply coming up with a decent clash/away jumper. If you're going to change your jumper - despite carrying on about history, tradition and beauty pageants sashes - why not at least make it, you know, good?

"We're not throwing away 100 years of history by wearing a clash jumper...what's that? We have to?...oh okay...what is the ugliest most half arsed design we can come up with?"

Are they planing on wearing that rubbish for the next 100 years?

I think our clubs can both agree we get bent over with this administrative shit all the time. It's not right and there needs to be a move away from this rubbish by the A(V)FL. I know it's not a massive deal in the scheme of things, but you wouldn't see us getting home kits in Melbourne.

Funny thing is the Essendon crowd were making so much noise I felt like it was an away game at times.

That's probably the biggest opposition crowd I've seen at Subi.

So I'm reading the thread on the main board about Essendon's new clash jumper and someone posted this from an email sent by the club to members:

Over the next few days, the Club will be launching a specially designed Heritage Guernsey that will replace our existing alternate strip and be worn when we are the away team against St Kilda, Melbourne, Richmond and Port Adelaide.

So there's enough of a clash to force us to change our home uniform for them, but apparently not enough for them to wear their clash jumper against us.

yeah - it's ****ing bs

essendon "no exposure in Melbourne, so let's hold off on launching the clash"

causing a bit of a stir on the main board

yeah the jumper looks nice, but it's still not a proper clash - slightly lightening the colour does not constitute a clash

That's because half of them were WC supporters. I was sitting outside the ground before the game and saw a number of People wearing WC gear with an essendon scarf. One of my friends asked what they were doing, they said "going for the bombers". Crackers.

Also any fat bloke over the age of 30 wearing a sleeveless playing jumper wouldn't hurt either.

What if they wear something underneath and 30 was a distant memory?

Yeah get away with that, I'm 30 and still occasionally wear my jumper outside but it's a long sleeve one, they are pretty hard to find actually.
