he could either a retire or b Play elsewhere just to rub it in and say sacking me was a big Mistake hope he makes em regrett it ;)

its up to lance not Carlton its not Swanns knee
hope it comes back and haunts em for a long time. :thumbsu:

Any lingering respect I had for Nixon just evaporated. His comments were utterly disgraceful.

In response to Carlton announcing the reason for Whitanll's departure, which it has every responsibility to explain to its members the reasons behind letting our Captain go, Nixon came out with...............

"Carlton have prejudiced that now haven't they by coming out and saying that he's got a medical condition that doesn't allow him to train or play. Who's going to buy the used car? Anyone?" Nixon said.

I'd be wary of Nixon if I was a club official after reading that one. Sounds like he wanted to try and pull a swifty on another club by sneaking Lance through the Pre-Season draft with a dodgey knee. Then has the gall to go on with.........

"They (Carlton) are still the best leakers in the AFL aren't they, so they've got a bit of improvement in that area to do."

FFS Ricky, what do you want us to do, lie. There was no leaking. Were we meant to try to keep what is pretty well known as fact anyway a secret.

Total goose and I hope his player stocks continue to dwindle in the coming years.

how about you tell the bloke his gone before trade week
that would have been handy

Why? Perhaps we needed to see what was going to transpire in trade week before we assessed if we could take a risk on a player who's body might not be up to it.

How do you know he wasn't shopped around anyway? The thing is you don't.

I thought we should have played big red out of the square, as brisbane did with lynchie. he wouldn't have had to run too much or kick to far, but could have used his good hands and footy smarts to our great advantage . oh well

Ahh, last week we weren't ablt to speak with lance or make an assessment because he was away....should we have just put him in for a trade without speaking to him or assessing him ricky.....tool.

If lance walks away from the blues because of ricky it will be the worst mistake of his career. Pull your head in w***er.

It seems to me that the club has decided to accept the recent past, forget it and move on big time.Otherwise Lappin and Red would have been useful just for some experience and leadership.Ratts has been there and knows the players already. If Skinny and Red did not have the right attitude to play hard and set the bench mark for the kids than I agree there was no point continuing with them. Stevens and Judd are natural leaders in actions and words.Fevola when his brain is in gear and when he is not thinking selfishly can also provide these traits. As much as I admire Red for what he has done, it is all about our future. We are doing everything with that in mind. Thanks Lance and come see us play!
Onward and upward all you faithful
Long days and happy nights

I hope your not one of these supporters who quote, the club has stuck by him for x amount of years and he should repay for what he has done..

because from your last 2 quotes, its a dog eat dog world.. And im fine by that as long as you can cop it on the chin when a player leaves a club.. ala judd

i think he showed a lack of respect for the club and the captaincy in the way he presented his body.
Elite athletes have all the means at their disposal to stay in shape and there is no excuse.
Big lance brought this on himself

Nothing to do with it. Ricky Nixon's criticism of Carlton is unwarrented and from another time. When have we had leaking problems over the last year? Answer me this, what were they supposed to say about sacking the Captain. Oh, nah, his body is fine, we're just sick of the fat jokes?

I'm just getting really tired of people taking any opportunity to sink the boot in. I tell ya, the 17th premiership arriving at Carlton is going to be the sweetest of the lot.

You know squat about it so pull your head in. You are just looking for the worst to have a shot and you are well and truly in the wrong place for that.

whitnall has two options:
1. to retire
and the second
2. to retire
(yes i purposely rewrote that)
he's too slow and his knees aren't going to hold up and that's why we got rid of him and he's going to have to realise that no-one wants him.

3. To retire and take up a non playing role at the club.

4. Play with the Bullants in a development role. Not so much running at that level.

i reckon that's the best option. he still gets to play footy and he is still part of carlton.

Lance. do this!

If so many Richmond supporters are concerned about our treatment of Lance, by all means take the fat, uncommitted sloth with pick 1 in the PSD... Maybe Justin Charles has some gear left you can inject into him.

What's Darren Gaspar been up to since you sacked him mid-year?

No matter what his attitude is/wasI just wish somehow this hadn't leaked and he could have retired with dignity. He'll now look like a complete nuff nuff retiring on Monday because everyone will know why.
He hasn't been in the best headspace and there is no excuse for being overweight but I would personally hate to see him play for another club.

He should've been told before trade period that he was no longer required so he could put his hand up and say "I want to go to another club" or "I retire"

Delisting club champions who still have a lot to give is pretty low. Especially when your team is a perenial underperformer. I'd say it's up to Lance when his body has had enough.

As for the "attitude" crap, it'd be hard to maintain a positive attitude when your team is refusing to win games.

I'd have him at the pies in a second as long as his knee can hold up for a season. More likely will go to a team that needs a genuine FF, but I wouldn't mind him at CHB until our kids develop into the role.

Admittedly sometimes a player doesn't see the writing on the wall and needs to be told that it's at an end, but Lance wasn't told this until after trade period and Carlton have purposefully sabotaged his efforts to get to another team.

Seems Caro is right about the old DARK blues being back.

I realise you're just another lame troll - it's troll season after all. However, I'll try and take you seriously - a life first experience for you I'd say.

The club has already offered him an off-field role, but he wants to keep playing. If the club thought he had a lot, or even a season to give we would have kept him. He'll get the message soon enough after the PSD and consider his next career.

He'll end up taking that specialist coaching role offer. I expect he'll play on in a lower grade just because he loves it, but I hope it happens at The Bullants where he can pass on that football cunning to our juniors.
