Searched on Google though, and had it fixed within the hour.

Yeah I had it!

Jst so people know, It not a real damaging virus but it is still bloody annoying!

You will know if you have it becuse it can cause your computer to suddenly shut down and then restart!

To get rid of it, go here: http://whirlpool.net.au/ and D/L the files. They are at the top of the page, you cant miss them!

It struck me about 45min ago. Pain in the arse it is too.

Luckily for me I heard about it driving home from Uni on the news and therefore when it hit, I knew what to do. I went to the Microsoft site and downloaded the patch and so far no problems.

My friends on the phone to me now going crazy because he keeps starting his computer and when he tries to install the patch, it says 'you have 20 seconds until you shut down' or something and it cant install in time! lol!

He got it done though after about 1/2 an hour!

so installing the patch should actually prevent you from getting the virus??

Not Affected Operating Systems:

Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition

Lucky for me I have Windows ME as my operating system.

(It feels strange saying that, Windows ME is a joke in reality. It was the OS that came with my computer when I orginally got it new, and I can't be f*cked changing it to Windows 2000 or XP. But for once it comes out with the goods, and so it bloody should!)

Then again, who would want to give a system a virus when they have winME!

I got that information directly off Microsoft's Site, so I am guessing I'm safe if I have WinME...

Yeah, that would be a wise move. It is a security flaw in the affected operating systems, so even if it hasn't struck you, download it to prevent your computing from being affected.

Like Catman said, it is a security flaw in the operating systems! It is already on your comp, thats why if you have any OS above winME you should get the patch! AND also, keep your comp up to date by downloading the Updates that micrsoft have. Go here to see if there are any for your comp! http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

It is not a virus that is sent by email!

i could never understand the people who said downloading ftom windows update is a waste of time maybe now theyll think differently.

as for windows ME please note that the whole operating system was stolen when a hacker got into ms themseles so i would consider the the upgrade to xp home at least as support for 98 will soon be shut down by ms.
