The 18s carnival is now wrapped up, so has anyone got any kids we're keen on snapping up. We're not talking coniglio jaeger patton because realistically our first pick will be late 20s. So will Lockyer be there in the 20s? Do we need another player like that? A Falcons boy Shane Nelson is a quality player, over 25 touches every game for west perth as well as kicking goals, picked up 35 touches against vic country but appeared to do very little for the rest of the carnival. My brother is convinced one of the WA clubs are hiding him. Marley Williams and Dayle Garlett are both likely types and an aboriginal bloke Josh Simpson from SA caught my eye.

A few of the West Perth colts boys say Nelson was talking to Sheedy when Sheeds was in Perth a couple of months back. Doubt he'll last as long as mid twenties.

Well maybe its GWS doing the hiding, not that they need it. Looked to have very little game time last night against SA and i think kicked it the wrong way once, possibly hiding himself ;)

Just watching AFL insider and I liked the look of Ben Kennedy from what little info I could gather.

Apparently a 174cm small forward from SA, fast and a "thumping left foot".

I'd assume he's highly rated to get mentioned on insider but he looks like he would be handy and I refuse to believe a 174cm player would go very early in a draft.

He would be perfect for us IMO. I liked the look of what I saw, but then again it was only a highlights package. We seem to like drafting the SA boys with our first picks, so would love him at the club if available. Really depends on what pick we get. At the rate we are going its only going to be a mid 20's, so unless we do some trading we are just going to have to rely on the other clubs.

Would be one to keep an eye on, though.

Ben Kennedy is one of the 17 yr old concession players available to GWS , not available untill 2012 draft otherwise .

Adelaide may offer players to GWS for Ben Kennedy this October . ( Year early )

West Coast normally go for best available with the first pick and local players more then likely with their second and third picks !

I'm pretty sure Kennedy's one of those 17 years old like O'Meara, that can only go by trading with GWS this year.

Would he be worth going after? I don't think we are going to get O'Meara, I think the bids will be way too high. I think if we could maybe find a home for Wilson (Maybe to the coast & ontrade the pick) + another potential pick?

Mitch Grigg looked good from SA, awesome left boot. Devastated we won't get our hands on Coniglio, he is an out and out superstar in the making. Marley Williams looks a likely type, O'Meara would be a godsend if we could get at trade for him, Dayle Garlett looked ok but lacked some defensive skill. Shannon Taylor is another that looked ok at times. Lockyer was ok but I think you could find better with a mid 20s pick, he doesn't really have a stand out quality. Shane Nelson didn't look like getting a touch, looks a bit too small. Just devastated we won't get a look in on Mitchell or Coniglio and are unlikely to give enough for O'Meara.

People need to downgrade their expections from our first rounder "assuming we don't trade it. If Lockyer fell to our first rounder, I'd be tempted to take him irrespective of the fact we have so many backs, just a class defender. IMO if we keep our first rounder it will be an interstate player we get.

Williams is a third rounder at best.
Nelson would be a steal if he fell that far.
Taylor and Yarran is 2012.
Gartlett is the 17 we should chase outside O'Meara.

Really keen on Garlett.

Is exactly what we need, the only issue being he can't get a game at AFL level till 2013 though he would be no guarantee to break into out best 22 next year.

Need an outside mid, so go after one
Garlett then (combination of a player and pick), I doubt a better option will be available at our pick in the draft proper?

With players like Crouch and Kennedy also available it would take a decent offer to snare one of the picks this year for the mini draft though so if we have to pay overs it may not be worth it.

I,m keen on Garlett:thumbsu:

Now a question for you and Easternhills.

Bias aside (hard sometimes), who do both of you rate as a better prospect Crouch or Garlett?

Crouch. Who is probably not far behind O'Meara. However we have greater need for Gartlettt and he's local. 18 months out from the draft it's pretty hard to be accurate. Gartlett could be a star who provides some topping on a good side, the other two a potential champs who you can build a side around.

Garlett looked very green. But the fact hes an underager and getting so much footy and looking dangerous is a good sign. Any relation to jeff Garlett?
