OK, next week we come up against St. Kilda who have the best tagger in the game in the form of Steven Baker. So who does he go to? My money is that if he goes to Hird, Hird will just go forward to exploit the height difference. Ross Lyon will know this so Baker will probably steer clear of Hird. So my question is, which one of our players genuinely needs to be tagged out of a game. I don't think any of our midfielders are genuine matchwinners ATM.

Winderlich has copped a lot of attention the last two weeks, taken tags both times.

Stanton has also been tagged and had a minder all day yesterday.

I'd say Baker would go with one of those two.

Was thinking Stanton.

Our defence will have to be on top of their game this weekend coming...Riewoldt looks back to his devastating best and I dont think we have anyone to combat his aerial brilliance.....even Fletcher would struggle against last night's display. May have to bring in Johns so Lucas can play down back and assist.

the problem is that we can't play hille, laycock, ryder, lloyd, lucas and johns in the same side. one of them has to miss out otherwise we are too top heavy.

gehrig will be suspended so we may not need paddy down back as mal will go on kozi. does that mean we drop a ruckman so johns can come in???

baker has played on judd so i see no reason why the height difference would deter them from playing him on hirdy.

Mal cant play on Kosi..or reiwoldt..against teams with quicker full forwards he almost needs to play loose..andas fb goalsquare bookend..I do think Johns needs to play and he should most weks in my opinion. I dont think we can drop a tall tho..Both rucks required and Paddy has been good..i think its a punt we need to take..Heff out Johns in..the only change for teh week..minimal changes eah week will be of benefit..one less midfielder doesnt mean we will run out of legs..the stints will need to be a bit shorter and breaks more regular with hirdy maybe playing 90 mins instead of 80. Ricky will get more time to prove himself along with Jetts..

fletch will play on riewoldt

how can you say that kozi is fast??? he is very slow. he is almost the perfect full forward for mal

jetta isn't ready to play in the midfield

fair enough maybe not overly fast but more mobile..i can see that if mal was put on him that Lyon would have him lead up the wings or out wide to run him around..Mal should play the old fletch role and play fullback and if they try to drag him away then he switches to the deepest opponent..If i had a choice lovett Murray would play on kosi..then Kos can do what he wants as i see it as a win for us..but injuries prevent it.

Jetta isnt ready for midfeild, your right but he can release another forward line player who is..Monfries,Hird etc..

I'm quietly confident about our match ups in this game.

Mal-Gehrig: He is not super quick on the lead any more and in one on ones Mal can hold his own.

Fletcher-Reiwold: Perfect match up and players in their second week back tend to have a let down sometimes.

Ryder-Kozi: Although lacking the experience should at least be given the chance to show he can handle a player of this quality

I'd much prefer to see Paddy on Reiwoldt,
Fletcher on Kosi and Michael On the G- Train.

I think Paddy has the speed and agility to take Reiwoldt, and if he fails, I think McPhee is the next best option

As long as we get the ball out of the middle and win the midfeild then the backline match ups wont be so crucial..

I like this because it means dustin can leave his man a bit, and we wont get destroyed.... If fletch is on reiwoldt he will pretty much have to stick to him like glue, I was also 2nd McPhee... kinda creepy that you mentioned him too.

My main hope is that sheedy reacts quick enough if one of the forwards is dominating.

The difference is Woosha wouldn't sacrafice Judd to play in the forward line. We can afford to do that with Hird as he is as much a forward as he is a midfielder, maybe more so.
