Let's face it, it looks like Swany is gone for most of the season so who does the club elevate off the rookie list for him. I know the club will not do anything straight away and they'll wait till the VFL is well and truly underway but for my 2cents worth, Id elevate Cox.
Not like for like in any way but the up side of this guy in how much he can grow and give us in the game is worth it. He is a bit of a cult figure already so fan engagement will be lifted, particularly if it's a poor season other wise.
The other thing I see is that he would give a lot more of a chop out in the ruck than Gault, Cloke or White.
For those old enough to remember it's too bad we don't have dermy playing for us. The year he spent with Rocca made Rocca as a player. Too bad Cloke can't do that for Cox.

Smith and Cox for Swan and Scharenberg

Scharenberg is already on the LTI so we already have an unused elevation. Won't be used until Cox or Smith is in line for selection.

Swans injury will still need full assessment in Melbourne. With a fractured fibula and a bone on the foot it could end up not being much more than an 8 week injury so we may choose not to put him on the LTI. I think the most likely foot fracture is a 5th metatarsal judging by how the injury occurred and that's a 6-8 week injury also. I am being on the optimistic side but Swan may be back in a couple of months.

If we can indeed elevate someone during his absence, Josh Smith all day long

Wouldn't even take a moment's thought - the kid has already shown a bit even in the limited amount of playing time he has had and has an AFL-ready body so he'd be a solid choice if/when they decide to elevate someone (but we have a boatload of midfielders at the moment so ho hurry there).

Only way Cox would get elevated in the short term is is if someone shoots Witts in the "high hamstring" (read: arse) with an air rifle at training during the week - not that I'd put it past Dave to take the shot, based on his love for the bloke... ;)

That would be a terrific result. But on SEN this morning they were saying it was the navicular bone....which is of course the same bone that ended Matthew Egans career

Didn't we already elevate Gault for Scharenberg?

No Gault was the pre season upgrade we already had available to us. Shaz's spot hasn't been used yet

We're so blessed to always get these long term injuries as it lets us view the rookies. So good. So so good. [emoji22]
