With the massive amount of money we have, which can easily accomodate 1 high profile player, or possibley 2 average players, who will we get????

It seems as though we will get no one, or be forced to pay David Haynes or someone similar a lot of money. I just cant think of anyone else, i wouldnt mind seeing us make a move for Bolton, he has showed some promise and I could see him down at the Cattery.

We dont seem to be showing interest in anyone anymore, and i'm wondering... what happens if we get no one, dont we have to use up all of our salary cap???

I wouldn't pay more than he's worth, and I don't think the GFC will believe that they have to spend a whole lot of money on someone who's not worth half it.

Some of our interests may be behind closed doors and we don't know who they're after. But you would have to say there would be a few on the shortlist that we will try to grab in the last two days.

We have to pay at least 92.5% of our cap, so the club will work around that figure to insure we don't go under 92.5% TPP.

foxfooty news update has just stated that geelong are very close to landing a deal which would see David Haynes down at Geelong

I hope we do get David Haynes as he is the best available forward at the moment.

Are you serious? There are tons more of better forwards then Haynes available in the draft. People....Daniel Bradshaw....we even have a chance at still picking up Rawlings (though very slim I'll admit). I would be very surprised if Geelong made Haynes a top priority. He would be handy as a flanker, but he would never be the KPP we need. Best available forward...pfft

Realisticly Available.
The chances of getting Rawlings now are almost zero . Bradshaw , from the day after the G.F as said he wants to stay with the lions so the chances there are slim. Haynes would be a much better option than Digby Morrel.

I would be happy to see David Haynes playing for our club.

I shudder at the thought of both Kingsley and David Haynes in our forward line.

Two forwards who struggle to take an overhead mark on a half decent defender, are ordinary below their knees and lack in pace.

Please no-one say the word 'flanker'. These guys both need to lead out of a goal square because they lack the essential qualities to play anywhere else.

Ray Hall is also being linked to the cats according to The Age. Hardly a star, but interestingly performed well early in the season whe Richmond were HOT, I think he was then injured and his and Richmond's seasons were effectively over. Could be a good pick up, might be able to get it for a couple of the third round picks that we seem destined to get from Carlton (Clarke), St Kilda (Mooney) and Western Bulldogs (Street).

Spot on, agree with all that but that's what we have resorted to. Other clubs know we are desperate. The WCE will want pick 22 and I reckon we will give it to them. If you look at last years trading period players like blumfield went for a pick in the high 20's I think while Woewodin went for a high teen pick. I don't think Haynes is in that class yet.

We already have KK, so there's no need for Haynes.
Why not??

Perhaps having both Haynes and Kingsley as the leading forwards will make us a little less predictable down there. I doesn't look like we'll be able to get anyone else to the club, and with Mooney likely to be traded, it means Playfair and McCarthy will be given more opportunities.

As I have said before, we are better off giving Lonergan, Mackie or Gardiner a go as HFF before paying over the odds for Haynes.

Personally, I wouldn't mind Allan depending on his wage. If we are going to be stupid and trade for a ruckman he would be my choice. Clarke and a 4th round pick? Whatever we get for Street (Pick 35)?

Most definitely agree with that. Thompson and his lamentable coaching staff have constructed the side and devised a gameplan in such a way, where the younger players (The forwards in particular, Gardiner being my main concern) struggle to receive a sufficient amount of game time.

Consequently, we're going to have huge problems at the end of next year, when we are forced to delist 4 or 5 players, and we'll be apprehensive to do so, because we haven't experimented with them enough. Gardiner is a prime example of this. He has sat on the bench in the seniors consistently, and hasn't been rewarded for any of his decent form in the VFL. And of course, when the side loses, instead of somebody like Clarke, Graham or Joel Corey being dropped back to the VFL and being made accountable, Gardiner is the scapegoat, which in my opinion, seems amazingly unfair.

Gardiner is coming into this 3rd season, and has failed, whether it's his fault or not is debateable, to produce some consistent, good form.

Clarke for a third-round sounds perfect to me.

As for Allan, personally I wouldn't touch him, i'd rather a 4th round pick. He's 29 and incapable of taking the field (due to injury)

If we get pick 35 for Clarke and on trade it for Haynes then we have done well. Hall would be OK I guess but we is hardly what we need.
